It means the traumatic experience and the strong feelings of discomfort, fear, or anxiety, which people may have when they enter another culture.1.a. physical symptoms b. psychological symptoms Symptoms of culture shock 2.a. physical symptomsPhysical symptoms are over-concern about cleanliness
3、 of food, bedding, and dishes, extreme stress on health and safety; fear any physical contact with anyone in the new country; great concern over minor pains and skin eruptions; craving “home cooking”; use of alcohol and drugs; and a decline in work quality. 7、ether at exactly 8:00 p.m. They seemed to enjoy the party: they danced, sang, and ate most of the food. At about 10:00 p.m, one of the students said to the teacher, “I think its time for me to leave. Thank you very much for the party.” Then all the other students got up to go, and all left at the sa

She had given the professor a lot of help during the course. At the end of the semester,the
23、professor and his wife invited her to their home for dinner. They said they were going to cook her an American meal. Wen Hong felt very flattered and excited,since McDonald,KFC and Pizza Hut had been her only exposure to Western cooking. They had salad to start with,then steak with potatoes,followed
24、 by ice cream. Wen Hong had expected more courses but the meal came to an end. She knew the professor and his wife were being kind to her,but somehow she was a little disappointed. She wondered whether Americans do eat like that at home.Case analyze in the west ,if you were invited to have a meal at
25、 someones home, there will often be only one or two dishes. Even it was a formal dinner, it would usually be just three courses: soup, main dish, and desert. But in China, an informal dinner would have four dishes and a soup; a formal dinner would have at least eight dishes and a soup. For more info

Even when people decide on the spur of the moment to go visit someone with whom they have made no previous arrangement
29、s, they may call in advance to let other know that they are coming. Spending time alone: it is a good time to have some “personal time”.
