Today Im going to talk about the topic” A lively city”. I will divide the instruction into five parts: they are the analysis of the
2、 teaching material, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching process and teaching reflection.Part 1: The Analysis of the Teaching Material1. The analysis of teaching content: The content is taken from Senior English book I, Module 4 reading & vocabulary. This reading is the core of this modu
3、le, which is designed to introduce Xiamen city, including its location, climate, people, business and places of interest etc. This topic plays an important role in Senior High studying. The aim is to enhance Ss understanding of Xiamen and to enable Ss to master the way of introducing a city. It is a
4、 stretch of the introduction.2. The analysis of the students situation:The students had just entered senior high school, most of them still stay in the learning stages of instruction pattern of junior, and cant meet the self-studying -based learning pattern of senior high. So, the cultivation of lea
5、rning methods is very important. 3. Dealing with the Teaching MaterialBased on the students situation, this class is mainly designed to make use the passage 'A Lively City' as a carrier to cultivate the students ability of reading comprehension by using four reading skills.(scanning, skimmin
6、g, surmising, and studying) 4. Learning Aims Based on the analysis of teaching material and students situation, I make the following learning aims.Knowledge Aimsa). Master the key words and phrases about describing a city. b). Understand the content of the passage, and master the four reading skills
7、. (skimming, scanning, surmising and studying.)c). Use the new words and phrases to describe an ideal city.Ability Aimsa). Develop the Ss abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. b). Train the Ss ability of working in groups. c). Improve the students reading ability. Moral Aims a). Inc
8、rease their cooperation sense.b). Cultivate their sense of loving our nation and hometown. 5. Teaching emphasis and difficultiesDifficultiesa). Master the key words and phrases;b). 9、a city. b). How to apply the four reading skills. Part II Teaching Methods1. Teaching Methods.3P6S Teaching Method: “3p” includes pre-class, while-class, and post-class “6S” refers to previewing, presentation, discussion, cooperation, examination and homework. During the teaching process, the teache
10、r guides the students to construct knowledge actively through independent study, cooperative inquiry, exchanging ideas and presentation, expending consolidation, so as to improve their study ability and achieve effective teaching.2. Teaching aidsMultimedia,smartboard, some pictures and songs.In this
11、 class , I make full use of Multimedia,smartboard, some pictures and songs, which makes the class atmosphere more alive and active.Part III Study Methodsa) Self-Study Method: Direct Ss to make full use of textbook, dictionary and relative books to preview by themselves, so as to cultivate their self
12、-study ability.b) Communicative Approach: Encourage Students to talk activity in class, build up their confidence, construct relaxed atmosphere.c) Cooperative Method: Through discussing in groups, the Ss can innovate by exchanging their ideas, and gain knowledge and develop their cooperation spirits
13、.Part IV The Teaching Process It includes three procedures (pre-class, while-class and post-class) and six steps (preview the learning paper, leading-in, Level-A questions presentation, Level-B questions presentation, examination& conclusion and homework. ).P1- PRE-CLASSSTEP1.Preiew the Learning
14、 Paper 【ASSIGNMENT】 1. Make the learning paper, and let the Ss the complete it by using relevant reference books; 2. The teacher corrects the learning paper.【DESIGN PURPOSE】Self-Study Method is used in this step, which can lead the Ss to study by themselves, cultivate their self-study ability. P2- W
15、HILE-CLASSSTEP 2: Leading-inTask 1 Lead in the new lesson【ASSIGNMENT】 Play a guessing-work about Xiamen city according to the hints of pictures and descriptions.【DESIGN PURPOSE】 A fantastic beginning can catch the Ss attention and evoke the Ss study interests . Task 2 Show the Learning aims【ASSIGNME
16、NT】 Show the learning aims.【DESIGN PURPOSE】 Clear learning aims can make the Ss understand the lesson more efficiently and effectively. Task 3 Evaluate the learning paper【ASSIGNMENT】 Evaluate the learning paper, then show problems in their previewing.【DESIGN PURPOSE】 Make the Ss know clearly what th
17、ey should pay attention in next previewing and what is the study emphasis in this class. STEP 3: Level-A Questions Presentation- Independent Study【ASSIGNMENT】1. Give one minute to go over Level- A questions (Key words and phrases)and discuss in groups ( the captain of each group guides the teammate
18、to discuss); 2. Have a dictation, write on the whiteboard; 3. Explain key usages.【DESIGN PURPOSE】 Consolidate the fundamental knowledge. STEP 4: Level-B Questions Presentation- Cooperation InquiryTask 1: Reading skills training 【ASSIGNMENT】 Use four reading skills to deal with reading comprehension
19、questions.1. Give Ss 2 minutes to discuss all the Level B questions in groups( the captain of each group guide the teammate to discuss); 2. Divide questions into six groups; 3. Give 2 minutes to prepare the questions; 4. Ss of each group presentation and explanation( the captain of each group divide
20、 the assignment); 5 The teacher evaluates and explains; 6. Sum up the types of reading comprehension questions and reading skills. 【DESIGN PURPOSE】 Cultivate cooperative ability by discussing in groups; develop the Ss reading ability through training.Task 2: Describe an ideal city. 【ASSIGNMENT】1. Us
21、e the words and phrases in this class to describe an ideal city. Give some describing hints (location, climate, people, tourism, places of interests, etc.) 2. Give 2 minutes to discuss and prepare ( the captain of each group guides to discuss ). 3. Describe it with their drawings.【DESIGN PURPOSE】Enc

Extend this class and evoke the Ssemotion of loving nation and hometown. 【DESIGN PURPOSE】 Make sure they master all the study points of this class, and evoke their deep emotion of loving our nation and hometown. P3- POST-CLASSSTEP 6: HomeworkTask1: Homework【ASSIGNMENT】 1. Use the FOUR reading skills to complete the Reading Comprehension (A-D) in exercise book.2.
