1、CAACAircraft Airworthiness Dept. of CAACZhao Yuerang, Deputy DirectorSep. 2007CAACCAAC-AADCAACCAAC-AAD Aircraft ARJ21-700 is now intensively under its assembly, debug and ground test demonstration. Subject to strict correlated requirements of Airworthiness Standard for Transport Aircraft of China ci

2、vil aviation regulations CCAR Part 25 which is in accordance with international level, it will start its airworthiness demonstration flight in the 1st quarter of next year.CAACCAAC-AADCAACCAAC-AADBy Aug. 2007, over 60 CP around aircraft ARJ21-700 has been basically completed, and reached a consensus

3、 with representative of FAA Shanghai Office. In order to improve the test flight efficiency and shorten the test flight time, series works such as manufacturing experimental aircraft, manufacture conformance check, analysis of fundamental flight data, functionality and reliability test of ground sys

4、tem, modification and preparation of test flight equipment have been highly intersected between authority and applier. There are totally 3 experimental ARJ21-700s applied to the airworthiness demonstration flight for testing performance, power plant and load strength, and aircraft system separately.

5、 There will be over 40 flight test subjects which lasted around 2 years. CAACCAAC-AADIn order to make sure conformity with airworthiness requirement and flight safety requirement after entering into service, it must make flight test demonstrating that ARJ-700 could continue flying safely and landing

6、 under all expected limit conditions and all possible boundary failure status. ARJ21 test flight will challenge many limits and high dangerous flight subjects.Flutter test flight, single-engine shutdown test flightStalling speed determination and stalling feature demonstration, minimum flight speed

7、control, and minimum takeoff speedFCS (flight control system) control rate evaluation and automatic flight failureAir intake stability test at big thrust / high angles of attackHigh speed performance test at max. crossing control VM0/MM0PIO (pilot-induced oscillations) feature study, test for incorr

8、ect operation during taking offEvaluate of control quality for point, angle or sensitive area of flight envelop, and natural icing flightAbnormal status and combined with engine failure flight test based on system and configurationEach of all the above-mentioned flight test subjects is a big challen

9、ge for any applicant and CAAC participant in flight test. CAACCAAC-AADCAACCAAC-AADIn order to complete airworthiness demonstration flight, it will use several sets of test systems for ARJ21, including collector, front-end sensor, adjuster, airborne real-time data processing system, telemetry paramet

10、er generation equipment and telemetry system. Flight test control center will realize real-time monitoring.Both fixed and mobile telemetry ground station systems will be equipped during ARJ test flight Fixed station can monitor the air zone with surrounding area of 400 km around the control center a

11、nd operating altitude of 15,000m Mobile station will be used for test flight under the situation of high cold and plateau conditionsARJ21 can download and analyze for more than 6000 estimated data links in real-time through these powerful equipment, therefore to improve test efficiency and safetyCAA

12、CCAAC-AADFor determining data such as stalling speed, referring to FAA Flight Test Guide for Transport Aircraft Certification Review AC25-7A, all tests are required to utilize strict-calibrated instruments, some tests are required sole experimental measure systems.In airspeed system calibration and

13、stalling speed determination, it will additionally equip drag cone system and nose airspeed strut as well as reverse spin umbrella.In order to dispatch center of gravity, it will equip water trimming systemIn test flight of flutter, control surface stimulating system and inertial stimulating system,

14、 will be equippedTest flight at natural icing condition, atmospheric parameter measure system will be equipped additionallyIn engine experiment, vibration parameter test system will be equippedThese international first-class facilities will strongly guarantee the success of ARJ21-700 airworthiness d

15、emonstration flight.CAACCAAC-AADCAACCAAC-AADOne advantage of ARJ21-700 is its strong adaptability to plateau and it can fly at plateau without reducing loadFor this purpose, in the process of design, special attention is given to the utilization under plateau and high temperature condition.In accord

16、ance with regulation, max. allowable extension limit for basic taking off test data are higher than 6000 feet standard altitude of test airport and lower than 3000 feet standard altitude of test airport. For airport over 8,000 feet, it will be required to finish functionability test demonstration of

17、 cabin pressure system At the same time, the extension data will be constrained by engine data extension scaleIn order to satisfy the requirement of regulation and show the plateau performance of ARJ21-700, ARJ21 will complete quite a lot of task of airworthiness evaluation test flight at plateau ai

18、rport, which is seldom seen in global civil aircraft research and manufacture.CAACCAAC-AADCAACCAAC-AADAccording to the world statistics collected in the past 25 years, one aircraft of transport category has had an accident in flight test every three to four year. Therefore authority asked the ARJ21 flight test should follow the management principles of FAA Order 4040.26A in terms of danger distinguish, risk assessment, risk management process and risk control, flight team capability improvement and any
