The raging ethnic cleansing in Kosovo is an example of intolerance. The Serbians will not tolerate the Albanians at any cost. They are forcin

3、g them from their homes, turning the streets into killing fields. This civil war seems unstoppable because of the intolerance of one race against another. No respect for individual rights, basic human rights. Human Rights in the New Millennium Human rights issues are taking on new focus in the new m

4、illennium. Economic and social rights are a paramount concern as the link between adequate and inadequate living standards. Governmental and non-governmental organizations are realizing that some countries take precedent over other countries when it comes to human rights. In the new millennium, case

5、s that violate human rights are being taken more serious than ever before. International prosecution against individuals and corporations will take place if human rights charges are brought against them. Human rights have been an issue in the international community since the beginning of time. Many

6、 bills and declarations have been written to distinguish what rights humans have by nature and what constitutes a human rights violation. The Bill of Rights in America, English Magna Carta of England, and the French Declaration of Man of France all set forth what human rights each citizen has in the

7、ir respective country. Human rights have and will continue to be a serious issue and concern of the international community. Some topics in this essay.According to the Constitution of the United States, it citizens preserve certain human rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Th

8、ere are many countries, which do not hold the same beliefs that the United States presents to its citizens. There have been many situations where the U.S. has intervened in the violation of human rights in other countries. Although not all countries have the same type of declaration of human rights,

9、 there should be limits on what can be done to citizens from any country. There are many moral issues at stake. Should other countries be allowed to mistreat, torture, or even in some cases kill their citizens? The answer to this question is definitely no. It is the moral responsibility of the Unite

10、d States to continue intervening in the violation of human rights in other countries. There should be certain things that no human being should do to any other for any reason. Some of these countries are misusing their powers and there is no one there to stop them from doing so.Today, freedom and eq

11、uality are two virtues that Americans overlook and take for granted. However, examples from the past point out that Americans were not always this fortunate. Octavia Butlers “Kindred” takes us on a time-traveling journey through the antebellum south. In order to save her ancestry, a black woman name

12、d Dana is sent back into time repeatedly to save her great-great-grandfather Rufus who ironically is a white southern slave-owner, confused, spoiled, and a rapist with a remarkable gift for self-destruction. Analysis of the novel reveals that being white was the safest position to be in during the p

13、re-Civil War Era. Not only did whites have absolute freedom and power, but they also had the ability to control slaves by taking away human rights they were entitled to.         Rufus had the power to control and threaten Dana despite the fact that she was a “

14、free” slave. Even though she was free, the color of her skin designated her as an easy target for Rufuss manipulation. Dana does not receive physical abuse from Rufus, but she was a victim of his threats, blackmail, and lies. One of the main goals that Dana has in the novel is to find her husband Ke

15、vin. While analyzing all of the articles that we have received in class, one in particular captured my interest. It was article # 14 entitled, “Dead Wrong.” This article best represents my viewpoint on the topic of capital punishment. It states that at least two thirds of Americans favor a suspensio

16、n of the death penalty for reasons of fairness and money. Along with those two thirds of Americans, I too favor the suspension of the death penalty. I feel that it is a denial of human rights and also increases peoples tendency toward violence. Two wrongs do not make a right. If we can say that kill

17、ing a person is legally wrong, how can we support a system that does justify capital punishment. The use of capital punishment has been a permanent fixture in society since the earliest civilizations, and continues to be used as a form of punishment in countries today. It has been used for various c

18、rimes ranging from the abandonment of soldiers during wartime to the more dreadful crimes of serial killers. Human Rights in India is diffcult of the United States, On February 27, in the town of Godhra in Gujarat, a Muslim mob attacked a train on which Hindu activists were traveling. The activists

19、were returning from Ayodhya, a town in Uttar Pradesh where they had supported the Vishwa Hindu Party (World Hindu Council, VHP) campaign to build a Hindu temple on the same site where Hindu militants had destroyed a mosque in 1992. Two train cars were set on fire, killing at least fifty-eight people

20、. In July, results of an official investigation by the Ahmedabad-based Forensic Science Laboratory stated that the fire could not have been set by the mob from the outside as had been alleged; the fire, it claimed, was set from inside the train. Investigations into the attack were ongoing at this writing. The Godhra massacre was immediately followed by a four-day retaliatory killing spree, in which over two thousand people, mostly Muslim,
