3、urberHe was an American cartoonist, author, journalist, playwright. The best American humorist since Mark Twain. He is known for the irony, satire and whimsical(异想天开的) humour of his stories about ordinary American life. His books include My Life and Hard Times(1933), from which this text is taken, a

4、nd My World and Welcome to It(1943).Background InformationJames Thurber attended Ohio State University from 1913 to 1918, but left without a degree. Tall, thin, and blind in one eye from a childhood accident, he suffered through the athletic and military program of the university in the World Warper

5、iod.In this essay Thurber recalled some of the high and low points of his years at Ohio State of University.
