1、Day 1: Learning the ropes at schoolI WAS going into the ninth grade, the beginning of high school in the US. My family moved to a new place with good schools, but without my old friends.My first two weeks of high school was marching band camp (军乐队夏令营). We were waiting in the gym and as I imagined, I
2、 stood alone, while others were chatting with their friends. I felt lonely (孤独的), but our senior team leaders helped me. They made us feel free and got us to talk with each other. I made my first friend, Ken. I learned he made some friends when he took summer school. Later, I got to know some of his
3、 friends.In the first half of the day, we learnt the basics (基础) of marching. I thought I knew them from middle school, but the seniors still pointed out my bad posture (姿势). After training, the seniors invited me to have lunch with them. I told them I was not in the top class. They told me my teach
4、er would move me up if I wanted to. I also listened to them talking about things new students wouldnt think about, like volunteer work, college, and part-time jobs. It was informative (增长见识的) being with the seniors, but I felt a bit uneasy because I wasnt able to share my personal life. Despite (尽管)

10、tudents under age 15 had decayed teeth. Food that is rich in sugar increases the risk of tooth decay. After you eat, bacteria go crazy over the sugar on your teeth, like ants at a picnic. The bacteria turn sugar into acids (酸) that eat away at tooth enamel. This cause holes in your teeth. Another co
11、mmon problem is crooked teeth (龅牙). When your new teeth begin to grow and the old teeth havent fallen out, there isnt enough space for the new ones. This causes crooked teeth. Dont worry. 12、rn to use dental floss (牙线). The floss gets rid of food thats hidden where your toothbrush cant get it. Visit a dentist.
