Abstract:

Inthispaper,westudiedaswitchablesinglelongitudinalmodeTm-dopedfiberlaserbasedonanFPfibergratingfilter.Firstly,theelectro-opticalcharacteristicsofthelaserwereintroduced,andtheadvantagesanddisadvantagesofTm-dopedfiberlasersandtheimportanceofsinglelongitudinalmodelaserswereanalyzed.Then,tomeettherequirementsofthelaser,aTm-dopedfiberlasersystembasedonanFPfibergratingfilterwasdesigned,andtheworkingprincipleandadvantagesofthegratingfilterwerediscussed.Next,weprovedthroughtheoreticalsimulationandexperimentalresultsthatthegratingfilterhadgoodfilteringeffectandpracticality,andachievedswitchablesinglelongitudinalmodeandmulti-modeoperations.Finally,theperformanceofthelaserwasevaluatedandanalyzed,anditwasfoundthatthegratingfiltercouldimprovethestabilityandreliabilityofthelaser,andhadawiderrangeofpracticalapplicationvalue.

Inthisstudy,anFPfibergratingfilterwasdesignedandintegratedintoaTm-dopedfiberlasertoachieveswitchableSLMandmulti-modeoperations.ThegratingfilterconsistedoftwofiberBragggratingswithdifferentreflectivities,andatunablefiberFabry-Perotcavitywasformedbetweenthem.Byadjustingthelengthofthecavitythroughamicro-stage,thelasercouldswitchbetweenSLMandmulti-modeoperation.

Experimentalresultsshowedthatthegratingfilterhadagoodfilteringeffectandpracticality.ThelasercouldstablyoperateinSLMmodewithalinewidthof28kHz,andtheside-modesuppressionratiowasgreaterthan60dB.Whenswitchedtomulti-modeoperation,thelaseroutputshowedabroadbandspectrumwithalinewidthof3nm.

Furthermore,theperformanceofthelaserwasevaluatedandanalyzed.Thegratingfilterimprovedthestabilityandreliabilityofthelaserbysuppressingthemodehoppingandenhancingtheoutputpowerstability.Thelaseralsohadawiderrangeofpracticalapplicationvalueduetoitsswitchableoperationmode.

Insummary,theintegrationofanFPfibergratingfilterintoaTm-dopedfiberlaserprovidesaneffectivetechniqueforachievingswitchableSLMandmulti-modeoperations.Thegratingfilterhasagoodfilteringeffectandpracticality,andcanimprovethestabilityandreliabilityofthelaser.Thistechniquehaspotentialapplicationsinvariousfields,suchasfiberopticsensing,lasercommunication,andmaterialprocessingInadditiontotheapplicationsmentionedabove,theswitchableoperationmodeoftheTm-dopedfiberlaserwithanFPfibergratingfiltercanalsobebeneficialinmedicalapplicationssuchasphotoacousticimagingandphotodynamictherapy.Photoacousticimagingisanon-invasiveimagingmethodthatuseslaser-generatedacousticwavestovisualizebiologicaltissuestructuresandfunctions.TheabilitytoswitchbetweenSLMandmulti-modeoperationmodescanprovidebettercontroloverthelaserintensityandpulsewidth,enhancingtheresolutionandsensitivityofphotoacousticimaging.Photodynamictherapyisacancertreatmentthatusesaphotosensitizerandlighttokillcancercellsselectively.TheswitchableoperationmodeoftheTm-dopedfiberlasercanfacilitatetheselectivedeliveryoflightenergytocancercells,improvingthetherapeuticoutcome.

Furthermore,theintegrationoftheFPfibergratingfiltercanalsoenablewavelengthtuningandnarrow-linewidthoperationoftheTm-dopedfiberlaser.Byadjustingthegratingperiod,angle,andrefractiveindex,thecenterwavelengthofthegratingfiltercanbetunedoverawiderange,allowingforprecisematchingwiththeabsorptionspectrumofcertainmaterialsandmolecules.Thisfeaturecanbeusefulinchemicalandbiologicalsensingapplicationswheredetectionofspecificsubstancesisrequired.Narrow-linewidthoperation,ontheotherhand,canenhancethecoherenceandspectralpurityofthelaser,makingitsuitableforapplicationssuchasinterferometryandspectroscopy.

Inconclusion,theintegrationofanFPfibergratingfilterintoaTm-dopedfiberlasercanprovideaflexibleandversatilelasersourceforvariousapplications.Theswitchableoperationmodeofthelaserenablescontroloverlaserintensityandpulsewidth,whilewavelengthtuningandnarrow-linewidthoperationallowforpreciseandselectivedetectionandmeasurement.Withfurtheroptimizationanddevelopment,thistechniquecancontributetotheadvancementofphotonicsandrelatedfieldsInadditiontothepotentialapplicationsdiscussedabove,theintegrationofanFPfibergratingfilterintoaTm-dopedfiberlasercouldalsoenablenovelresearchinareassuchasspectroscopyandsensing.

Forexample,thenarrowlinewidthandwavelengthtunabilityofthelasercouldbeutilizedforsensitivetrace-gasdetectioninenvironmentalmonitoringandindustrialprocesscontrol.Byselectingtheappropriatewavelengthrangeandgasabsorptionline,thelasercouldselectivelydetectandquantifygasesatsub-parts-per-millionsensitivitylevels.

Similarly,thehighpowerandcontrollablepulsewidthofthelasercouldbeusedfortime-resolvedspectroscopyofultrafastprocessesinmaterialsscienceandchemistry.Bysynchronizingthelaserpulseswithatargetsystem,researcherscouldprobethedynamicsandmechanismsofphotoinducedreactionsandphasetransitionsatpicosecondorfemtosecondtimescales.

Furthermore,thecompactandrobustnatureoftheFPfibergratingfilter-Tm-dopedfiberlasersystemcouldmakeitidealforfieldmeasurementsandremotesensingapplications.Byintegratingappropriatesensorelementswiththelaseroutput,thesystemcouldprovidereal-timeandon-siteanalysisofenvironmentalparameterssuchastemperature,pressure,andstrain.

Overall,theintegrationofanFPfibergratingfilterintoaTm-dopedfiberlaserrepresentsapromisingdevelopmentinthefieldofphotonics.Byprovidingversat
