Thebeginningoftheairmail
AtBlackpoolHoltThomasandGraham-Whiteagreedtomakeapracticalexperimentincarrying
mailsbyaeroplane.Theidea,asitwasfirstworkedout,wasfortheaeroplanetoflyfrom
BlackpoolairportacrosstoSouthport,andforthemailstobetakenoverbythepostofficethere.

wasthatGraham-Whitetookamail-baginhisplane,andmadeaflightwithitacrosscountryfora

airmanship;assoonashereachedagreatheight,conditionsbecamemuchsteadier,andhe
finishedhisjourneywithoutaccident.
