1.Theanalysisofstudents
1)StudentsarefromClass7,Grade8.MostofthestudentshavelearnedEnglishFormorethansevenyears.Thestudentsareveryactive,andtheyarecuriousaboutnewthingsandhaveastrongdesiretolearnbetter.However,theirEnglishlearninglevelsaredifferentfromeachother.SomestudentscanlearnEnglishverywell,butsomestudentshavesometroublewithEnglishandtheyneedtogethelpandencouragementfromtheEnglishteacherandclassmatesfortheirfurtherstudy.
2)Thewholeclassisarrangedingroupsof6or7studentswithaleaderineachgroup,sothattheycansharewitheachother,learnfromeachotherandhelpeachother.
3)Beforeclass,theteachermadeasurveyandfoundthatsomestudentshaveanamazingmemoryonacertainaspect,sothesestudentspreparedaspeechwithslidesaheadoftime.
2.Theanalysisoftheteachingmaterial
1)Myteachingtopicis“MemoryCorner”fromUnit7,“English”JuniorEnglishBook8A,whichispublishedbyShanghaiEducationPress.Inthisperiod,thelanguagefunctionistopractiselistening,speaking,readingandwritingskills.
2)Thisperiodmainlypractisesthereadingskillsofstudents.Asweknow,thereadingabilityisveryimportantforjuniormiddleschoolstudents.Besidesthetextbooks,studentsaredemandedtodomoresupplementaryreadingintheirsparetime,soit’snecessaryforthemtograspthedifferentreadingmethods,suchaspredicting,skimmingandscanning,intensivereading,etc.Inthepreviousunits,forexample,inunit6,thereadingstrategyhowtogetthemainideasoftheparagraphsinastoryismentioned.SoinUnit7,we’llgoonwithreadingstrategies.
3)Thetopicofthisperiodis“MemoryCorner”,whichisaboutthreeshortarticlesonhowtoimprovethememory.SoImakesomeadjustmentsabouttheteachingmaterials,thatistoput“MorePractice—Howtoimproveyourmemory”onP109asthehomeworktoconsolidatethereadingtopicandreadingskills.
