HerquestionbroughtbackmemoriesoftheyearIpurchasedthebrokennativitysetting.

Iwasverybitteranddisheartenedthatyearbecausemyparents,afterthirty-sixyearsof

marriage,weregettingadivorce.IcouldnotaccepttheirdecisiontopartandIbecamedepressed,

notrealizingtheyneededmyloveandunderstandingthenmorethanever.

thoughtaboutthosemoments,Pdburstintotears,beingsureI'dneverfeelthespiritofChristmas

again.

Mychildrenwereafraidtherewouldn'tbeanysnowfortheholidaysthatyear,buttwodays

beforeChristmasitbegantofall.Beautifullyandquietlyitcameduringthemorning,andby

eveningitcoveredeverythinginsight.Ineededtogointotowntobuysomeribbonandwrapping

paper,butIdreadedtheidea.Eventhenew-fallensnowstirredmemoriesofthepast.

Thestorewascrowdedwithlast-minuteshoppers-pushing,shovingandcomplainingasthey

grabbedfromshelvesandracks,notbotheringtoputunwantedarticlesinplace.Christmastree

lightsandornamentsdanMedfromopenboxes,andthefewdollsandstuffedtoysremindedmeof

neglectedorphanswhohadnohome.Asmallnativityscenehadfallentothefloorinfrontofmy

shoppingcart,andIstoppedtoputitbackontheshelf.

Afterglancingattheendlesscheck-outline,Idecideditwasn'tworththeeffortandhadmadeup
