PAGE1:PAGE1:OwnersManualBMWMarineThiscopyoftheBMWD7OwnersManualhasbeenre-createdusingimagescomputerscannedfromamanualratherthanoriginalartwork.Ithasalsobeenre-formattedin“portrait”styletodisyand/orprintbetteroncomputersystems.ThismanualwaswrittenonyourbehalfinanefforttohelpyouenjoyyournewBMWMarineEnginetotheum.Nomarineengine,beitthebestintheworld,willperformatit’sbestduringalonglife,withoutpropercareandmaintenance.PleasereadthismanualcarefullybeforeyousetoutonthefirsttripwithyournewBMWMarineEngine.Forthepracticalboatowner,somemaintenanceproceduresaredescribedinthismanual.Nexttosomejobs,youwillfindthismarkingwhichindicatesthattheworkwillrequirespecialtoolsaswellascertainspecialknowledge.Itis,therefore,mendedthatyourauthorizedBMWMarineDealercompletetheseENGINE STARTINGAND SERVICE& FUEL COOLING VALVE WINTERLAYUP ENGINETheBMWD7isasingle-cylinder,four-stroke,direct-injectiondieselengine.Theengineisequippedwitharaw-watercoolingsystem,fedbyanimpellertypepumpdrivenbythecrankshaft.Electricalstartingandchargingsystemsarestandardasisanautomaticairbleederdeviceinthefuelsystem.17.0cuStroke&67x732.63x2.87Maxoutputatmin-14.5kW/6HP/Maxtorqueatmin-111.7Nm/1.2kpm/8.7lbft/Weight,dryengineincl.68150Gearboxumengine15DieselOilDINFuelLubricationoilCapacity–Litre(USHD-APICC/CDSAE1litre(0.26USATF0.4litre(0.1USAirInjectorInjection135+8InjectionBoschPFE1QStartermotorAlternator,charging14vBattery,rec12v60Injection11.5–12.5degTappet0.15mm.006InjectorCylinderheadPAGE6:PAGE6:INSTRUMENTS&TheBMWD7isequippedwithaninstrumentpanelasStarterSwitch–withthree”O”–thecircuitisswitchedoff,andthekeycanbe”II”–thecurrentisswitchedonandthealternatorchargingcontrollamplights”S”–thestartedisengaged.Whentheenginefiresthekeyshouldbereleasedandwillautomaticallyreturntoposition“II”AlternatorChargingControlLamp–isnormallyoutwhentheengineisrunningaboveidlespeedEngineTemperatureControlLight–shouldbeoutatalltimesexceptifenginetemperatureexceeds70oCor160oF.Insuchcasestheenginemustbestoppedatonceorseveredamagemayoccur.FindthetroublebeforetheengineisThepanelalsohasareservelampmarked“OIL”,whichisnotThrottleandgearshiftarebothoperatedbysingle-leverremotecontrol,whichworksas==Forwardgear=TheRPM=Reversegear=RPMTodisengagethegearshiftmechanism,pushtheknob–2–fullyin,forinstancewhenstartingtheengine.AlohaOwnersAssociationnote–thecontrolfittedtoAloha27sisnotalwaysthesameasthis,andinsomecasesyoupulltheknobOUTtodisengage.STARTINGAND pressionTheautomatic pressionvalvemakesstartingeasier,particularlymanualstarting.Thevalveisoperatedbyatwistgrip.Inthe“O”positionthevalveisclosed,whileinthe“1”sectoritisopen,buttheautomaticcontroldeviceisnotengaged.Turningthegripfurther–alwaysclock-wise–willengagetheautomaticcontrol.Whentheengineiscranked,thevalvewillautomaticallyreturnnotchbynotchtothe“0”position.Thistakesfourfullturnsofthecrankhandleandthespeedgainedtherebyshouldmaketheenginefireatthefirstfollowingcompressionstroke.Useofthe pressionvalveisalsohelpfulwhenthebatteryistoolowforsufficientcrankingspeed.NOTENOTE–neverusepressionvalvetostopthe::ColdStartingSituatednexttotheinjectionpump(onthestarboardsidejustforwardofthedipstick).Whenstartingacoldengine,theknobispulledoutfullyandtheRPMcontrol(throttle)incockpitpushedtothe“full”position,withthegeardisengaged.ColdWeatherStartingAcoldstartprimerislocatedontopofthecylinderhead.Fillwithdieselorlubricatingoilwiththecoverremovedandpressthecoverfullydownpriortostarting.EngineShut-OffPullthehandleandholditinthispositionuntiltheenginehascompleyArunning-inArunning-inperiodof y10hourswhenumRPMshouldnot3000min-1willprolongengineandgearboxlife.Afterthese10hours,theengineshouldbecheckedbyaBMWMarineDealerinaccordancewiththeinstructionsintheservicesection.Alwayschecktheengineoillevel,priortothefirststartingoftheAirTheBMWD7fuelsystemincorporatesafullyautomaticair-bleedPriortostartingupafteralongrestperiodorwhenthefuelsystemhasbeenworkedon,operatetheprimerpumpsome30–50strokes,whichwillsavethebatteryandstarter.(Forlocationofprimerpumpseediagramsonpages13&15)StartingAColdCheckthatthegear-shiftisinSetthethrottleatthe“full”Turnthestarterswitchkeytothe“II”positionanscheckthatthealternatorchargingcontrollampcomesonTurnthekeytothe“S”positionwhichwillengagethestartermotor.Whentheenginefiresevenly,releasethestarterswitchkeySetthethrottleatnormalImportant–seeNOTESonnextIfoutsidetemperatureisextremelylow,theprimerdeviceontopofthecylinderhead(seediagramonpage8)sgouldbefilledwithdieselorlubricatingoilandtheplugfullypresseddowntoinjecttheoilintotheintakemanifold.Sinceadieselengineisdependentonacertaincompressionpressure=heattoignitethefule,onemayhavetooperatethestarterforlongerperiodsthanisthecasewithagasolineengine.Undernocircumstancesshouldthestarterbeengagedformorethanthirtysecondsatatime.Abatterytoolowforsufficientcrankingspeedwilldoomthestartingfromthebeginningandthebatterywilldrainveryrapidly.Insuchacase,trythe pressionvalve,orcranktheenginemanually.StartingAWarmCheckthatthegear-shiftisinSetthethrottleatthe“full”Turnthestarterswitchkeytothe“II”positionanscheckthatthealternatorchargingcontrollampcomesonTurnthekeytothe“S”positionwhichwillengagethestarterReleasethekeyassoonastheengineDecreasetheRPMtonormalCheckthatthealternatorchargingcontrollampisoutandthegear-shiftisre-ManualPreparethestartingaccordingtotheinstructionsforacoldengineonpageInsertthecrankhandleandmakesureitisproperlyTurn pressionvalvetwistgripalmost180oHoldthecrankhandleasshowni.e.withfingersandthumbonthesamesideofthehandlethusavoidingsprainingthehandsshouldtheenginerotatebackwardsCranktheengineasrapidlyandvigorouslyaspossible.Afterfourcrankhandlerevolutions,the pressionvalvewillcloseandtheenginewillfirenormallyRemovethecrankhandleanddecreaseRPMtonormalAlohaOwnersAssociationnote–ownersofsomeAloha27sadvisethatduetothecloseproximityofthebulkheadtheremaybeinsufficientclearancetoallowinsertionofthecrankhandleformanualstartingStoptheSetthecontrolinneutralandallowtheengineafewminutesidlinginordertoevenoutanythermalstressesPulltheshut-offhandlefullyuntiltheenginehascompleyNOTENOTE–neverusepressionvalvetostoptheSERVICEANDPeriodicalserviceandmaintenanceproceduresarelistedThemarkingindicatesthattheprocedureinquestionrequiresspecialtoolsandcertainknowledgeandshouldbelefttoyourauthorizedBMWMarineDealer.JobstobeEngineOillevelOilchange,50oronceFirstchangeafter10Oilchange,150oronceFuelprimaryfilter,EverytwoFuelprimaryfilter,cartridgere100oronceFuelscreencleaning(insidethefeed100oronceAirfilter,re100oronceTappetclearance,checking/adjusting100oroncecleaningWhenRecedonceImpeller,rawwaterpumpchecking/re100oroncepressionvalve,adjusting100orwhenevertappetclearanceisalteredFUELFuelflowNumbermarkingsrefertocorrespondingThefuel –consultthe manufacturersorboatbuildersinstructionsforproperdraining,cleaningandothermaintenanceprocedures.NOTE–dieselfuelshouldnotbeleftinthe duringthelay-upperiodduetorust,sludgeorwaxdepositsforming.Thefuelpump–(locatedontheportsideoftheengine)isofthediaphragmtype,operatedbythecamshaft.Underneaththepumphousingcoverthereisascreentypepumpwhichneedscleaningatregularintervals.Thefiltersealingringaswellasthegasketatthecovercentreshouldberenewedwheneverthepartsaredismantled.Apartfromthis,thepumpneedsnomaintenanceandisrecedasacompleteunitifthereareanydoubtsaboutit’sTheprimaryfuelfilter–withwatertrap.Wateranddirtdepositsaredrainedbyremovingtheknurledpludwithasuitablecontainerunderneathtocatchthespill.Thespin-ontypefiltercartridge(TypeBMW )isrecedatregularintervals–seemaintenancescheduleonpage12.NOTE–thefiltercartridgecannotbecleanedandused资料 百威千汽车维 ::Theinjectionpump–ofBoschmake,mustnotbedealtortamperedwithbyanyoneotherthananauthorisedBMWMarineEngineorBoschdieseldealer.Shouldthepumpneedtoberemoved,itisveryimportantthatallopenings,fuellineconnectors,etcareproperlysealedtopreventcontamination.Theinjector–ofBoschmanufacture,willnormallyneednomaintenanceexceptforcleaningoftheareanecttotheatomizer.Theinjectormustnotbedismantled,sincethesetinjectionpressurethencouldbealteredinadvertedly.WARNINGWARNING–whentheinjectoristestedoutsidethecylinder,thejetmustnotbedirectedtowardsunprotectedskin,eyes,etcasitispowerfulenoughtopenetratetheskin,causingnastywoundsandpossibleinfection.Wheninstallingtheinjector,makesurethatthecylinderheadsealiscleanandthenutsevenlytightenedto1.0kpm(7.2lb.ft.)Thereturnpipes–directsurplusfueltotheandevacuateanyairNOTE–wheneverthefuelsystemhasbeenserviced,bleedingitbyoperatingtheprimerpumpsome30–50strokesisworthwhile.Anyairlockstrappedinthesystemwillotherwisecausetroubleormakestartingimpossible.NOTE–handlingthefuelsystemrequirestotalcleanliness.Theinjectionpumpandinjectortolerancesareveryfineandanyfragmentofdirstorthetiniestamountofwatercouldruintheinjectoroperation.Airfilterrecement–iseasilycarriedoutbyunngthefilterhousingclasps.Thefilterpaperelementisdiscardedandcannotbeusedagain.Cleanoutthefilterhousingandinstallanewelement.(TypeBMW LUBRICATIONTheBMWD7isequipedwithasimpleandrelaiblesshlubricationOillevelcheck–isdonedailywithaidoftheEngineoilchange–normallyevery50hours.Abrandnewengine,however,willrequireit’sfirstoilchangeaftertenorfifteenhoursrunning.Pumpouttheoiloilviathedipstickopeningwhiletheengineiswarm.Refillviathecrankcasefillerplug.Gearboxoilchange–iscarriedoutat150hourintervalsandwhenthegearboxisstillwarm.Removethedrainplug–1–andthefillingopeningplug–2-.Allowtheoilenoughtimetodraincompley.Checkthatthedrainplugsealisundamagedpriortore-installation.Topupthegearboxslowlywith0.4litres(0.1USgal)ATFDexronoil.Leavethefillingopeningopenforsomeminutesuntilanypossibleairlockshaveescaped.Checktheplugsealandinstalltheplug.COOLINGTheenginehasaraw-waterdirectcoolingsystemfedbyanimpellertypepumplocatedonthefrontoftheengineanddrivenbythecrankshaft.Thewateriscirculatedthroughthecylinderblockandcylinderheadjacketsandfinallydiscardedviaathermostatcontrolledoutletintotheexhaustmanifold.Pumpimpellerchange–ispossiblewhenthepumphousingfrontcoverisremoved.Prytheimpelleroffitsshaftusingtwoscredrivers.Lubricatetheshaftandtheimpellervaneswithafewdropsofoilpriortoinstallation.Bendthevanesoppositetothedirectionofrotationinordertoavoiddistortion.RenewthepumphousinggasketandinstalltheNOTE–theimpellershouldberemovedpriortolay-up–seeinstructionsonpageTheenginetempraturewarninglightsensor–1–andself-sacrificinganodes–2–aresituatednexttothethermostathousing–3–.Theanodesresistinternalcorrosioninthecoolingsystem.Theself-sacrificinganodes–arecheckedregularlyandre cedifmorethan50%hasbeeneatenawaybycorrosion.Undotheanodes–2–andre cethemwithnewones,includingnewgaskets.Thethermostat–willopenat55oC(130oF).Itisaccessiblewhentheexhaustmanifoldisremoved–3–.Checkthethermostatbysubmergingitinhotwater.Alwaysuseanewgasketwhenre-installingthemanifold.Drainingthecoolingsystem–isdonebyremovingthelowersacrificialVALVETheoverheadvalvesareoperatedbythecamshaftviapushrodsandrockerTappetClearancetobecheckedandadjustedwhiletheengineisset pressionvalvetwistgripinthe“0”removetherockerarmcover,attachedwithtwostudsandcranktheengineuntilthecompressionisclearlyuseafeelergaugetochecktheclearancebetweenrockerarmandvalve.Correctclearance=0.15mm(.006in)adjustifnecessarybylooseningtheadjustmentscrewlocknutattherockerarmpush-rodend–1–turntheadjustmentscreweitherwayuntilthecorrectclearanceisholdthescrewinpositionwhilethelocknutischecktheclearanceoncerepeatthesameprocedureattheremainingre-installthecoverwithanewThe pressionischeckedandadjustedwhenthevalvemechanismhasbeenworkedonorifthepropersettinghasbeenalteredforotherreasonsaffectingthecorrectfunctioningofthevalveremovetherockerarmcheckandadjustthetappetturn pressionhandletopositionundo pressionvalveadjustingscrewlocknut–2turntheadjustmentscrewcounter-clockwiseuntiltherockerarmclearanceisclearlynoticeableturntheadjustmentscrewclockwiseuntiltherockerarmisjustintouchwiththevalveandthenanotherhalfturn–180o–inthesamedirectionholdthescrewinpositionwhilethelocknutisinstalltherockerarmcoverandanewset pressionvalvetwistgripin“0”ELECTRICALTheBMWD7isequippedwitha12voltelectricalsystem,consistingofastartermotoroperatingontheflywheelringgearandaninternalalternatorwithstaticchargingcoilsinsidetheflywheel.Theumchargingcapacityis14V350Wat2000RPM.Apanelwithrectifier,regulatorandfusescompletestheThealternatorchargingcontrollightintheinstrumentpanelwilllightupwhenthestarterswitchkeyisturnedto“II”position,butshouldgooutwhentheengineruns,indicatingthateverythingisinorder.Ifnot,consultyourBMWMarineDealerasincaseofanystartermotormalfunctioning.Apartfromrecinganyburnedfuses-makesurethatthecorrecttypeofrecementisused-theelectricalsystemshouldneednomaintenance.Check,however,thatallvisibleconnectionsarecleanandtightened.ChargeControl
