定语从句

1.定义：

在复合句中修饰名词或代词的从句叫定语从句。

引导定语从句的关系代词有that,which,who,whom,whose和关系副词when,where,

why.

关系代词或副词位于先行词和定语从句之间，它既起连接作用，又充当从句中的某

一句子成分。

HikemusicthatIcandanceto.[music是先行词，that是关系代词]

HeisthemanwhoImetyesterday,[man是先行词，who是关系代词]

2.规则：

人(n.)+who/that+从句

物(n.)+that/which+从句

3.关系代词的用法

①一般情况下，that既可指人又可指物，可以代替who,whom和which,在从句中

作主语或宾语。

Thegirlthat/whohaslonghairismyyoungersister.（作主语）

Thisisthepenthat/whichyouarelookingfor.（作宾语）

Thepersonthal/whomyoujusttalkedtoisournewteacher.（作宾语）

②which指物，在从句中作主语或宾语

ThecameraswhicharemadeinJapansellwellallovertheworld.（作主语）

Thefishwhichweboughtyesterdaywerenotfresh.（作宾语）

③who在从句中作主语，whom在从句中作宾语，whose在从句中作定语

TheboywhobrokethewindowiscalledTom.（作主语）

ThemanwhomourteacheristalkingwithisDaming'sfather.（作宾语）

Thafsthemanwhosehousehasburneddown.（作定语）

④关系代词在句中作宾语时可以省略

Thebook（that/which）IboughtyesterdayisanEnglishgrammarbook.

4.关系副词的用法

①when指时间，在定语从句中作时间状语

Canyoutellmethetimewhenweshallmeettomorrow?

Iwon'tforgetthedayswhenwelivedtogetherinthesummercamp.

注意：在某些表示时间的名词后关系副词常省略，如thefirsttime,everytime,the

moment等。

②where指地点，在定语从句中作地点状语

ThisistheplacewhereIfirstmether.

③why在从句中表示原因，先行词通常是reason

5.只用that不用who或which的情况

①当先行词是all,little,much,none,
