I’mveryexcitedtohavethisopportunitytotalkaboutoneofmyfavoritepiecesofart.ItiscalledTheStarryNightandwaspaintedbyVincentvanGoghin1889.

First,letmetellyouaboutthebackgroundtothispainting.ItshowstheFrenchtown,Saint-Remy-de-Provenceatnight.ItisbasedontheviewfromawindowinahospitalwhereVanGoghwasapatient.Sadly,hesufferedfromhealthissuesthroughouthislife,andhisworkonlyfoundfameafterhisdeath.Althoughitshowstheviewatnight,VanGoghpainteditduringthedayfrommemory.Healsopaintedotherversionsatdifferenttimesofday.
