Activity2Fillintheblanks. It’stypicalthatmyjourneyisononeoftheoldestlines,aswellasoneofthedeepest(lines).
(1)(You)Handmethebookoverthere.(2)(Is)Anybodyagainstthesuggestion?(3)—WhatdoyouthinkmadeDavidsohappy?—Passinghisdrivingtest(madehimhappy).
例如:(1)Iarrivedheretoday,and(I)muststayhereoneortwoweeks.(省略主语)(2)IaskedJohntogo,butshe(askedJohn)tostay.(省略谓语和宾语)
(3)Knowingisonething,andbelieving(is)anotherthing.(省略系动词)(4)Inmyclass,boyslikesportswhilegirlsdonot(likesports).(省略谓语和宾语)
(1)Thatisthefilm(which/that)wewatchedlastweek.(2)Tomisn’taman(whom/that/who)youcanbelievein.(3)Theathletetowhomyoutalkedisafamousrunner.
Weadmiredhimfortheway(inwhich/that)hefaceshisdifficulties.
另外,若状语从句为it/there+be结构时,也可省略it/there+be。例如:(1)While(Iwas)inHangzhou,IpaidavisittotheWestLake.
(2)Theputerisofnouseunless(itis)repaired.
(3)Although(heis)stillyoung,heknowsalot.
(4)Handintheworktomorrowif(itis)possible.
例如:①Idon’tbelieve(that)Mikehasjoinedthearmy.②YoumaydependonitthatIshallalwayshelpyou.③Lisatoldme(that)shewasillandthatshecouldn’tgotoschoolthenextday.【注意】有时可用so或not代替上文的内容。例如:(1)Workhard.Ifnot(Ifyoudon’tworkhard),youwillfailintheexam.
(2)—DoyouthinkMr.Greenwillgiveushelp?—Ihopeso.(Ihopehewillgiveushelp.)
(1)Iaskedmyfriendtohaveadrink,buthedidn’t(haveadrink).
(2)—Areyouateachernow?—No,butIused(ateacher).
