3.社会调查

大学英语课的社会调查指的是教师以教学内容和学生实际生活为出发点设计调查任务，学生进行分组调查后用英语撰写调查报告，并在课堂上用英语向同学汇报，展示自己的调查结果。

撰写英语论文的第一个目的是锻炼学生的英语综合能力。学生在写作过程中运用英语进行了阅读、讨论和写作，操练了英语各项技能。

第二个目的是培养学生的科学研究能力，使他们初步掌握进行科学研究的基本程序和方法，掌握如何收集、整理和利用材料，如何观察、调查、作分析，如何利用图书馆检索文献资料等，直接参与和亲身体验了研究工作的全过程及其各环节，是一次系统的、全面的实践机会。

第三个目的是培养学生提出问题、分析问题和解决问题的能力，使学生具有开拓精神和创新精神。

通过大学英语研究型教学，学生积极、主动参与英语学习过程，获得亲身体验，在真实的语言环境和真实的任务活动中运用语言，通过探究不断发现和归纳语言规则，锻炼了英语综合技能。其次，研究型教学通常围绕一个需要解决的实际问题展开。在学习的过程中，学生自主发现和提出问题，设计解决问题的方案，调查研究，得出结论并进行成果交流，积极应用己有的知识与经验，锻炼了创造性思维和实践能力。此外，大学英语研究型教学涉及社会、经济、科学、历史、文化等多方面的内容。在研究的过程中，通过社会实践和调查研究，学生深入了解自然与社会相关问题，学会关心国家和社会的进步，增强了社会责任心和使命感。
