TaskorganizationsmayvaryaccordingtoMETT-T.Thefollowingitemsareconsideredbeforetaskorganizingfora

particularmission.

1.MAINEFFORT.Theplatoonleaderdesignatesthemaineffort.Hesufficientlyweighsthemaineffortforeach

mission(forexample,machinegunsandantiarmorweapons)toensuresuccess.

2.SUPPORTINGEFFORT.Theplatoonleaderalsodesignatessupportingeffortsthatwillaidintheaccomplishment

ofthemission.

3.PLATOONHEADQUARTERS.Theplatoonheadquartersnormallyconsistsoftheplatoonleader,platoonsergeant,

platoonRATELO,forwardobserverandhisRATELO,platoonaidman,twomachinegunteams,andanyother

elementsthatmaybeattached,underoperationalcontrol,orinasupportingrole.

4.ATTACHMENTS.

a.Engineers.Engineersnormallyhavealreadybeenassignedapriorityofworkbythecompanycommander.The

platoonleaderwillnotdictatetheemploymentorfurthersuballocateortaskorganizeanysupportingengineerelements.

Heisresponsibleforcoordinatingwithallengineersoperatinginhisareatoensurethecommander'sprioritiesarebeing

adheredto.Hemustalsoensurethatengineerassetsarenotwastedandhemustalsoprovideguidestoandfromhis

platoonarea.Theplatoonleadermayberequiredtoprovidelaborsupportandorsecuritytoassisttheengineers.

b.StingerTeams.StingerteamsareusuallyindirectsupportofthecompanyduringthedefenseandunderOPCON

duringtheoffense.Theplatoonleaderdoesnotchangethepriorityofairdefenseprotectionestablishedbythe

commander.TheStingerleaderpositionstheStingerswheretheycanbestprovidesupport.Theinfantryplatoonwill

frequentlyneedtoprovidesecurityfortheStingerteam.

c.AntiarmorSections.Theantiarmorsection'sprimarymissionistodestroyarmorvehicles.Theplatoonleaderdoes

notchangethepriorityofantiarmorengagementsestablishedbythecommander.Helocatesthesectionwhereitcanbest

supportthemission.Theinfantryplatoonwillfrequentlyberequiredtoprovidesecurityfortheantiarmorsection.

d.GSR,IPW,andCITeams.Oftencollocatedwiththeinfantryplatoon.Theseelementsareusuallyindirectsupport

tothebattalion.Theplatoonleadercoordinateswiththeseteamstoensureamutualunderstandingofthemissionexists.
