WritingTask

Askstudentstowritetheirownpassagesbasedontheirnotesin3a,followingthestructureofthemodelpassage.Givethemabout10minutestowrite.Walkaroundtheclassroom,offerhelpandguidancewhenstudentshavedifficulties,suchasgrammar,vocabulary,ororganizationproblems.

Step4:Postwriting(15minutes)

Handoutaselfcheckchecklisttoeachstudent.Thechecklistmayincludeitemslike:

Checkifthepassagehasaclearintroduction,body,andconclusion.

CheckforcorrectusageofthePresentPerfectTense.

Studentsreadtheirpartner'spassageandfillinthepeercheckform,whichcanincludementsonthecontent,language,andorganization.Forexample:

ClassSharing

Inviteseveralstudentstosharetheirrevisedpassageswiththewholeclass.Aftereachstudent'ssharing,otherstudentscanaskquestionsorgivepositivefeedback.Theteacheralsogivesoverallments,emphasizingthegoodpointsandareasforimprovementofthesharedpassages.
