foundthatmorethanthree-quartersofself-reportedneurodivergentparticipantssaidthatCopilothelpedthemperformbetteratwork,

Assessment,studentspreferredanAIreadingassistantovertraditionalnote-taking,citingitsabilitytoanswerquestions,simplifycomplexmaterial,andprovideimmediatefeedback.MoststudentsaskedsophisticatedquestionsoftheirAI

chatbotstogainadeeperunderstandingofthematerial.

However,usingAIaloneproducedworseresultsthanusingitintandemwithtraditionalmethods.

AVariedImpact

NotallstudentsequallybenefitfromAI.Studentsinhigher-rankinguniversitieswhohavegreaterfamiliaritywithAIexperiencegreaterbenefits,accordingtotherecentstudyofuniversitystudentsfromdiversebackgroundsandusage

patterns.StudentsusingAIdidbetteronexamsbutnotablylesswellthan

theydidonassignments,suggestingthatthebenefitsofusingAItocompleteassignmentsdidn’ttransfertoautonomoustestsituations.Onepromisingfind:socioeconomicstatushadnosignificanteffectonoutcomes,suggestingthatAI-assistededucationdoesnotworsenexistingsocialinequalities.1

InNigeria,WorldBankconductedarandomizedcontrolledtrialusingMicrosoftCopilottoenhanceEnglishlanguagelearningforfirst-yearseniorsecondarystudents.Accordingtotheirpaper,“theinterventiondemonstratedasignificantimprovementof0.31standarddeviation

onanassessmentthatincludedEnglishtopicsalignedwiththe
