Finding

and

Losing

Troy

Was

Troy

a

real

place

or

just

a

story?For

years,

many

people

thought

it

was

just

a

myth(神话).

But

a

German

named

Heinrich

Schliemann

believed

it

was

real.

His

strong

belief

helped

him

make

some

very

important

discoveries.

As

a

boy,

Schliemann

loved

reading.

His

favorite

book

was

The

Iliad,

a

book

about

the

great

war

at

Troy.

The

brave

heroes

and

strong

walls

in

the

story

interested

him

deeply.

He

promised

himself

that

one

day

he

would

find

the

lost

city

of

Troy.

However,

life

first

took

him

in

a

different

direction.

He

became

a

successful

businessman,

traveled

to

many

different

places

around

the

world,

learned

several

languages,

and

made

a

lot

of

money.

In

his

late

forties,

he

finally

had

enough

money

to

follow

his

childhood

dream.

He

traveled

through

Greece

and

Turkey

to

search

for

Troy.

Hissarlik,

an

ancient

Turkish

site,

caught

his

eye.

In

1871,

he

started

digging

at

Hissarlik

with

a

team

of

local

workers.

He

soon

became

impatient

with

the

slow

work.

To

dig

faster,

he

used

dynamite.

This

sped

up

the

excavation(挖掘)

but

also

caused

serious

damage

to

the

site.

Piece

by

piece,

they

uncovered

weapons(武器),

pottery(陶器)

and

many

other

ancient

objects.

These

findings

showed

that

Hissarlik

had

a

history

of

over

5,

000

years.

It

had

been

rebuilt

many

times.

Schliemann

believed

one

of

these

lost

cities

was

Troy.

His

discovery

made

him

famous

around

the

world.

But

not

all

historians

think

highly

of

him.

Most

of

them

thought

his

decision

to

use

dynamite

destroyed

important

parts

of

the

ancient

site

forever.26.What

______A.A

feel

lost

with

numbers?The

right

graph

can

help!

It

makes

data

clear.

Let's

look

at

the

four

most

common

graph

types:

Pie

Chart

It's

good

for

showing

a

certain

part

of

a

whole

and

the

proportion(比例)of

each

part.

A

pie

chart

enables

you

to

plan

your

pocket

money

wisely:for

snacks,

books,

and

savings.

Line

Graph

An

excellent

choice

if

you

want

to

describe

how

something

changes

over

time.It

is

also

good

for

showing

big

differences.

Many

teachers

prefer

using

a

line

graph

to

track

students'

grades.

Bar

Graph

A

bar

graph

can

also

show

changes

over

time.

However,

it's

more

direct

to

make

comparisons(对比)between

two

or

more

things.

That's

why

we

can

use

it

to

compare

the

popularity

of

different

school

clubs

among

your

classmates.

Venn

Diagram(维恩图)

A

Venn

Diagram

features

two

overlapping

circles.

It's

perfect

for

sorting(分类)information.

You

can

use

a

Venn

Diagram

to

sort

plants.

For

example,

plants

with

green

leaves

go

on

the

left;plants

with

flowers

go

on

the

right;plants

with

both

go

in

the

middle

where

the

circles

overlap.

31.Where

can

we

probably

find

the

passage?

______A.In

a

historical

novel. B.In

a

tour

guide.

C.In

a

sports

newspaper. D.In

a

maths

textbook.32.How

many

kinds

of

data

display

graphs

are

mentioned

in

the

passage?

______A.3. B.4. C.5. D.6.33.If

you

want

to

show

big

differences

and

how

something

changes

over

time,

which

graph

would

be

a

good

choice?

______A.Pie

Chart. B.Bar

Graph. C.Line

Graph. D.Venn

phrase

"overlapping

means

a

circle

______

.A.that

part

of

another

circle.

B.that

is

inside

another

circle.

C.that

is

far

away

from

another

circle.

D.that

is

the

main

purpose

of

this

passage?

______A.To

help

people

create

a

project.

B.To

tell

people

about

the

你参与了学校举办的"记忆力挑战周"活动,并负责为校报撰写一篇活动总结。请根据以下报道内容,回答问题。

【任务:】阅读短文,根据问题提示提取关键信息,每个回答不超过5个词。

Last

week,our

school

held

"Memory

Challenge

Week",an

activity

to

help

students

improve

their

memory

skills.

Many

students

took

part

and

learned

useful

methods.

First,we

learned

about

flashcards.

Teachers

showed

us

how

to

write

key

words

on

one

side

and

meanings

on

the

other.

We

made

our

own

flashcards

for

English

and

science.

Second,we

practiced

mind

mapping.

We

drew

central

topics

and

connected

related

ideas

with

branches.This

helped

us

see

links

between

different

points.

Third,we

tried

memory

games

like"Word

Chains"

and

"Number

Recall".

Everyone

enjoyed

playing

while

training

their

brains.

The

most

popular

activity

was

the

"Ebbinghaus

Review

Plan".

We

learned

that

reviewing

within

9

hours

after

learning

helps

stop

forgetting.

Many

students

made

their

own

review

schedules.

We

also

invited

a

memory

expert

to

give

a

talk.

He

said,"Memory

is

like

a

muscle(肌肉)—the

more

you

train

it,the

stronger

it

gets."

Through

posters

and

class

sharing,everyone

understood

that

good

memory

habits

can

make

learning

easier.

Our

teacher

said,"If

you

use

these

methods

every

day,you

will

remember

more

and

forget

less."(1)What

答案和解析1~10.【答案】C、B、A、B、C、D、A、D、B、C【解析】(1)考查定冠词。句意:其中,纸是最重要的发明之一。a一个,泛指,用于辅音音素开头的单词前;an一个,泛指,用于元音音素开头的单词前;the特指,用于最高级前;/零冠词。根据mostimportant(最重要的)可知,最高级前需加定冠词"the","the"符合语境,故选C。
