earthquakesandthatEarth’sclimate,asaffectedbysolarheat,playedarole.
“Solarheatdrivesatmospherictemperaturechanges,whichinturncanaffectthingslike
rockpropertiesandundergroundwatermovement,”saidJunqueiraSaldanha,leaderofthe
researchteam.“Suchchangescanmakerockstendtobreakapart.Forexample,thechangesin
rainfallandsnowmeltcanaffectthepressureontectonicplateboundaries.Whilethesefactors
