Humanoidrobotsholdenormouspromisefortheconsumermarket,butadoptioninthehomemaynotbeasstraightforwardasthetechnologyroadmapsuggests.Imaginewalkingintoyourhomeandbeinggreetednotbyapetorafamiliarvoiceassistant,butbyahumanoid-shapedmachine—a“hunkofmetal”withhumanproportions,yetfundamentallyunfamiliar.Despiteitsutility,suchapresencecouldfeelalien,evenunsettling,tomanyhouseholds.

Inthisinterimphase,whencapabilitiesarestillcatchinguptoambition,differentiationmaymatterlessinwhatrobotscandoandmoreinhowhumansfeelaboutthem.ThisiswhereIPscouldplayanimportantrole.
Familiar,belovedcharacters,suchasDisney’sOlaf(Exhibit16)andCaptainAmerica,offersomethingthatrawhardwarecannot—instantemotionalrecognition,connection,andtrust.Arobotthatlooksandbehaveslikeaknowncharactercanreducethe

Inthiscase,IPactsasabridgebetweencutting-edgetechnologyandhumanacceptance.AnOlaf-likerobotdoesnotjust

Importantly,thissuggeststhattheearlycompetitivefrontierinconsumerhumanoidroboticsmaynotbedefinedsolelyby
