tosociety,”Zhangsaid.ThevlogssharedbyZhangarelivelyandattractive.Shefilmedagroupofyoung

volunteers,includingherself,plantingtreeswithstylishsportssunglasses,enjoyinglocalnoodlesintheirtent,and

dancinginthedesertafterwork.

LiXiuniang,fromHeilongjiangprovince,alsopostedhervolunteerworkonline.“Thistaskisn’tjustfor

Minqin;it’sforallofChina,”shesaid.

LeeTing-Hsuan,a20-year-oldstudentfromTaiwan,isoneofthousandsofvolunteerswhotraveltoMinqin

everyyear.Around20youngvolunteersfromMacaoalsojoinedtheprogram.“Throughtreeplanting,wegeta

Since2007,over80,000volunteershavejoinedthisprogramandtheyhaveplantedover1.52milliontrees,

recyclingpolyurethanerequiresalotofenergy.Somostpolyurethane-basedwastesaresenttolandfills,wherethey

cangiveoffdangerouschemicals.

Theteamfoundthatthebacteriumcouldproduceenzymes(酶)thatcouldeatpolyurethane.Thiswouldmake

itpossibletobreakdownplasticwastes.Theresultswererecentlyreportedinasciencemagazine.
