Dr.Liuandhiscolleagueswereabletousetheprocessonbothcottonandpolyester.Atestofthecottonsamplesfortheirantibacterialpropertieshasshownthatthenewmaterialisjustaseffectiveassilver,ifnotmoreso,atkillingtwobugs,EscherichiacoliandStaphylococcusaureus,whichcancauseseriousinfections.Theantibacterialeffectswerepersistent,too.Theysurvivedmorethan30washes.6
