Ask anyone whos spent any significant amount of time in Toronto to describe their city and they will likely conjure up images of many disparate entities, linked as a whole. Indeed, Toronto

2、s status as a world-class city derives in part from its great diversity, and nowhere is this more evident than in its extraordinary variation in neighborhoods. From the sparkling glass of the downtown financial core to the time-weathered brick of the Distillery district; from Parkdales transformativ

3、e urban spaces, Toronto is brimming with potential to suit every need.,Where to Go.,Bloordale Village The Annex Kensington Market Chinatown Bloor Street Jamaican, Mexican, Cuban, Portuguese, Thai, Korean, Italian, Caribbean, Chinese, and vegetarian to name a few.,Chinatown,Chinatown is an ethnic enc

4、lave in Downtown Toronto, with a high concentration of ethnic Chinese residents and businesses extending along Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue west of the centre of the city. A second area known as East Chinatown, extends along both streets from the intersection of Broadview Avenue and Gerrard

5、 Street. First developed in the late 19th century, the main Chinatown is now one of the largest Chinatowns in North America and one of several major Chinese-Canadian communities in the Greater Toronto Area.,Bloor Street & Danforth Avenue,Bloor street is a long street which runs through Toronto from

6、the far west to east. When Bloor street hits the downtown center at Yonge street it turns into Danforth Avenue. Along Bloor in the downtown core youll see the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) which houses a variety of exhibitions including a massive dinosaure exhibit. You can also find all the designer sh

7、ops such as LV, Prada, and Holt Renfew. When you go along the Danforth, youll find Greektown where every year a massive food festival happens called Taste of Danforth.,Church & Wellesley Village,Church Wellesley Village, home to Torontos original LGBT-oriented community. The stretch of Church from C

8、arlton to Bloor also goes by more colloquial names like the Village, the Gay Village, the Gay Ghetto or Gaybourhood, but either way you slice it its still home to a thriving mix of restaurants, cafes and clothing stores. Its also ground zero for the annual Pride Week, one of Torontos biggest summer

9、festivals and one of the largest Prides in the world.,Financial District,The Financial District is a business district in Toronto, within the downtown core. It is the main financial district in Toronto, and is the financial heart of Canada. It is the most densely built-up area of Toronto, home to nu

10、merous banking companies, corporate headquarters, high-powered legal and accounting firms, insurance companies and stockbrokers. In turn, the presence of so many decision-makers has brought in advertising agencies and marketing companies. The banks have built large office towers, much of whose space

11、 is leased to these companies. The bank towers, and much else in Torontos core, are connected by a system of underground walkways, known as PATH, which is lined with retail establishments making the area one of the most important shopping districts in Toronto. The vast majority of these stores are o

12、nly open during weekdays during the business day when the financial district is populated. During the evenings and weekends, the walkways remain open but the area is almost deserted and most of the stores are closed.,The Distillery District,A neighborhood as old as Toronto itself, the Distillery dis

13、trict is home to some of the best-preserved Victorian architecture in North America and boasts a recent revitalization into the present. Pedestrian friendly, and poised on the outer edge of the downtown core, the Distillery is home to artisans, theatres, restaurants, cafes and boutique retailers.,Qu

14、een Street,Queen Street was the cartographical baseline for the original east-west avenues of Torontos grid pattern of major streets. The western end of Queen (sometimes simply referred to as Queen West) is now best known as a centre for Canadian broadcasting, music, fashion, performance, and the vi

15、sual arts. Over the past twenty-five years, Queen West has become an international arts centre, and a major tourist attraction in Toronto. On the East end are the beaches and local boutiques continue to line the street.,Toronto Islands,The Toronto Islands are a chain of small islands in the city of

16、Toronto. The Toronto Islands are located just offshore from the city centre, and provide shelter for Toronto Harbour. The islands are home to parkland, the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, a small residential community, several boat clubs, an amusement park and several sand beaches, including a cl

17、othing optional beach. The island community is considered to be the largest urban car-free community in North America, although some service vehicles are permitted.
