、oys 两个男孩 an umbrella 一把伞 three umbrellas 三把伞,Grammar check,GL-3,2 集体名词 一群人或物的总称,有的可数,如: a (football) team 一个(足球)队 two (football) teams 两个(足球)队 有的不可数,如: machinery 机器 furniture 家具 clothing 衣服 luggage 行李 police 警察 不可数的集体名词不能与不定冠词连用,本身也不能计数,如不可以说a clothing (),two clothing ()。,Grammar check,GL-4,3 物质名词 指

、不能分为个体的物质,是不可数名词,通常不能与不定冠词连用,本身也不能计数,如: water 水 sugar 糖 cotton 棉花 但有的能有复数形式,如: Still waters run deep. 静水深流。 还有少数物质名词在口语中用作可数名词,如: Lets have a coffee (= a cup of coffee). 我们喝杯咖啡吧。 Two coffees (= two cups of coffee) / beers / teas / whiskeys, please. 请来两杯咖啡/啤酒/茶/威士忌。,Grammar check,GL-5,4 抽象名词 指人或物的品质、

、状态等抽象概念,通常不能与不定冠词连用,本身也不能计数,如: friendship 友谊 happiness 幸福 honesty 诚实 knowledge 知识 但有例外,如: I have only (a) limited knowledge of computers. 我的计算机知识很有限。,Grammar check,GL-6,5 专有名词 通常是不可数名词,但有时也能普通名词化,从而带有复数词缀,如: Have you visited the Joneses?(指姓Jones的一家人) There are two Marys in the class.(指两个名叫Mary的女生),G

、aircraft 飞机等飞行器 person/people/(persons) 人,Grammar check,GL-8,2. 名词和限定词 普通名词就其语法形式来说可分为三类: 单数可数名词、复数可数名词和不可数名词。 这三类名词在名词短语中要求与不同的限定词进行搭配,它们之间有着不可分割的联系。现将限定词与这三类名词的搭配规律列表如下,供参考:,Grammar check,GL-9,1 能与三类名词搭配的限定词 my / your, ect Johns / my sisters, ect some / any / no / all / the other / what, which, wh

、ose, etc 2 能与单数可数名词搭配的限定词 a(an) / each / every / one / either / neither / many a / such a / what a 3 能与复数可数名词搭配的限定词 both / (a) few / fewer / many / these / those / a (great) number of / two, three, etc,Grammar check,GL-10,4 能与不可数名词搭配的限定词 much / a (great) deal of, etc / (a) little / less 5 能与单数可数或不可数

、名词搭配的限定词 this / that / the least 6 能与复数可数或不可数名词搭配的限定词 a lot of, etc / some / other / more / most / such / enough / 零冠词 7 能与单数或复数可数名词搭配的限定词 the first, the second, etc / last, the next, etc,Grammar check,GL-11,可见,有些限定词能与三类名词搭配,有些只能与两类名词搭配,有些则只能与一类名词搭配。下面用改正错句的办法来略加说明。例如由what引导的感叹句的基本模式是: What a (+单数可数

、名词)! What (+不可数名词或复数可数名词)! 因此下句错了: What a nasty weather! () 多么恶劣的天气! What a只能与单数可数名词搭配,而weather是不数名词,再者,weather前用不定冠词a属典型错误,因此必须去掉a,改成what +不可数名词: What nasty weather! (),Grammar check,GL-12,又例如: A: Whats this? 这是什么? B: Its book. () 是书。 答话错了。Book是单数可数名词,前面不能用“零冠词”(即“不用冠词”)。因此上述答话应改为: Its a book.() 如果

、用复数提问,答话在复数可数名词前就可用零冠词。试比较: A: What are these? 这些是什么? B: Theyre ( ) books. 是书。,Grammar check,GL-13,又例如: How many luggages have you brought with you? () 你带了多少行李? 错了。many要与复数可数名词连用,而luggage是不可数名词,应将many改成much: How much luggage have you brought with you?

、,GL-14,Grammar check,GL-15,2 以形状表示个数的单位词有bar / cake / loaf / lump / slice / drop等,如: a cake / bar of soap 一块/一条肥皂 a loaf / slice of bread 一条/一片面包 a lump of sugar 一块方糖 3 表示容积/度量的单位词有bottle / bucket / glass / cup / can / pound / gallon等,如: a bottle of milk 一瓶牛奶 a bucket of water 一桶水 a glass of wine 一杯

、葡萄酒 a cup of tea 一杯茶 a can of milk 一罐牛奶 a pound of butter 一磅黄油,Grammar check,GL-16,Grammar check,4 还有表示“一副/一条/一把”等由两部分构成的物体名词的单位词pair,如: a pair of glasses / scissors / trousers / leggings / jeans 一副眼镜/一把剪刀/一条裤子/一条女式紧身裤/一条牛仔裤,barbecue n. cooking outdoors 户外烧烤 e.g. We plan to have abarbecuefor the who

、le family. 我们打算全家一起去户外烧烤。 Lets have a barbecue! 我们来一次户外烧烤吧! vt. cook outdoors on a barbecue grill (通常在户外)在烤架上烧烤 e.g. Now and then we like to barbecue steak in the back yard. 我们有时会在后院里烤牛排吃。,W&E-BARBECUE,Background information Words and expressions Text,Text study (A),bow v. to bend down as a greeting
