The pass mark is 40% ov

3、erall 100% coursework 2 pieces minimum mark 35% in each piece 1 X 1000 word assignment on Contract 1 X 1000 word assessment on Tort (integrated assessment for full time students),MODULE INFORMATION,You will have access to a Course and Module web and you must log on regularly . The module web will co

4、ntain all lecture, seminar and assessment materials together a weekly teaching plan (for guidance only and may be subject to change),LECTURES,Lecture notes will be posted on the module web approximately 48 hours before the lecture Students should print off a copy of the notes and bring them to lectu

5、res. Attendance at lectures is essential as the material will be explained in context. A lecture lasts 50 minutes,SEMINARS,You will be allocated a seminar group and time Attendance is compulsory and a register will be taken at the beginning of each session. Continued non attendance will be reported

6、Questions will be posted on the module web in advance of each session Students should print off the question sheet and bring it to the seminar,The questions will be topical and based on the giving of advice Readings will be recommended for each session A seminar lasts for 50 minutes Advance preparat

7、ion and participation is required from all students,ATTENDANCE,There is a direct link between attendance and success and non attendance and failure Continued non attendance and/or non submission of assessments may lead to withdrawal from the course The easiest way to pass the module is to engage and

8、 attend,CASE LAW,Lectures will use case law by way of explanation and illustration In coursework , case names should be followed by the case citation e.g. Donaghue v Stevenson ( 1932) AC 562 Case law is the body of law set out in judicial decisions (i.e. the decisions of judges),PRECEDENT,Case Law i

9、s the basis of precedent where the judgement or decision of a court , recorded in a law report , is used as an authority for reaching the same decision in similar , subsequent cases to ensure fairness,EUROPEAN COMMUNITY LAW,Under the European Communities Act 1972 section 2 , the law of the European

10、Union is part of UK law and in the event of conflict , EU law takes priority Membership of the EU has therefore had considerable influence in many areas of business such as employment , citizens rights and data protection,LEGAL LANGUAGE,The use of language in law is very specific Some words have a m
