2、d as you silently read. Both of these will slow you down to the point in which you find that you cant read any faster than you can speak. Speech is a relatively slow activity; for most, the average speed is about 250 WPM (words per minute). Reading should be an activity which involves only the eyes
3、and the brain. Vocalization ties reading to actual speaking. Try to think of reading as if you were looking at a landscape, a panorama of ideas, rather than looking at the rocks at your feet.,4,SUBVOCALIZATION,-talking while you read, either in your mouth, your throat, and or in your head-or all thr

It is not always bad given what and why you are reading, but in most cases, since you already know many of the words and structures you are reading, sub vocalizing is a bad habit that offers you some security for sure that you think you may need, but for the average student who nee
5、ds to read a lot of stuff, it can be deadly. There is a time and place for sub vocalizing, but it does indeed limit your reading speed to 200-250 words per minute or lower, because that is about as fast as you can talk! Reading aloud, and subvocalization do have their place in the reading process, b

It regresses or slows down the pace of reading. The a
12、verage reader read at rate 250 words per minute and regresses or rereads about 20 times per page. Rereading words and phrases is a habit, which will slow your reading speed down. Usually, it is unnecessary to reread words, for the ideas you want are explained and elaborated more fully in later conte
13、xts. Furthermore, the slowest reader usually regresses most frequently. You dont have to say the word to understand what it means. Try to expand more number of words that you read at a time. Practice will help you to re
19、ad faster. You may also find that you can increase the number of words read by holding the text a little further from your eyes. The more words you can read in each block, the faster you will read.,13,Peripheral vision,Nearly everyone learned to read word-by-word or even letter-by-letter, but once y
20、ou know the language, thats not the most efficient method of reading. Not every word is important, and in order to read quickly, youll need to read groups of words - or even whole sentences or short paragraphs - instantaneously. Most people read three or four words at a time. Once you make an effort
21、 to be aware of your reading style, youll discover how many words you read at a time. Now you just need to increase that number.
