Notes To make an effective complaint you need to be: * very clear in communicating your needs, * specific about your problem, and how you want it solved, * calm and objective in the way you present your case, * courteous: assume, until proved otherwise, that the person you are speaking to is on your side! 2. A: Hello, Miss Green, this is Jack Smith of the Oriental Trading Company. Im afraid I have to make a serious complaint. C: Hello, Mr. Smith. What seems to be the trouble? A: Ive been flying Air China for nearly six years, Miss Green, and I must say that I have always been very satisfied with the service, but last Saturday something happened which was inexcusable. C: Can you give me the details, Mr. Smith? A: Yes. I was scheduled on Flight 543 from Beijing to Sidney C: I see. Im very sorry to hear that, Mr. Smith. I can assure you that such things dont happen very often. A: I hope not. What do you intend to do about this,Miss Green? C: Ill look into the matter for you, and talk to the person responsible for this mistake. A: All right, then. C: Thanks for calling, Mr. Smith.
