Unit15 Destinations Teacher: Zhang Zhimin PART 1 :Understanding of the teaching material STATUS AND FUNCTION 1. This lesson is on reading comprehension, a passage about two foreign cities-Rio de Janeiro and Kitzbuhel. It is a focus of tourism and foreign cultures . It is the third item of Unit 15,which is supposed to the most important part in the unit. 2. This lesson is very helpful for the Ss to improve their reading comprehension ability and raise their awareness of culture TEACHING AIMS AND DEMANDS 1.Knowledge objects 2.Ability objects 3.Moral objects Knowledge objects 1. To make the Ss know of something about the two cities, such location, people, attractions and cultures. 2. To give a reinforced practice in the use of the infinitive, present/past participle, gerund and some useful expressions, such as “get the itch to do sth”; “get tired of”; “a variety of”;”take a dip”;”work out” and so on Ability objects 1. Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher acts as the director 2. Train them with some effective learning methods to optimize the students learning results. 3.To improve their reading comprehension ability. 4.To improve their written English. Moral objects 1.Enable the students to love the beautiful world and raise their awareness of culture . 2.Encourage the students to study harder and enable themselve to travel more in the future and see more of the world. TEACHING AIDS: A computer; An OHP(overhead projector); PowerPoint TEACHING KEY POINTS 1. Fully understand the passage. 2. Train the Ss reading ability and develop their reading skills 3.
