1.A: Now, today we will talk about friendship. what do you think about friendship?B: Everyone needs friendship. No one can sail the ocean of life single handed. We need help from, and also give help to, others.A: Yes, i agree with you. In the modern age, people attach more importance to relations and connections. A man of charisma has many friends. His power lies in his ability to give.B: The term, friend, covers a wide range of raeanings. It can be a nodding acquaintance, a comrade, a confident, a partner, a playmate, a brother, an intimate etc.A: As life is full of strife and conflict, we need friends to support and help as out of difficulties. Our frinods give us warnings against danger. True friends share not only joy but, more often than not, they share sorrow.B: With friendship, life is happy and harmonious. Without friendship, life is hostile and unfortunate. I have friends in the rank and file. Some are rich and in power. Some are low and common. Some are like myself, working as a teacher, reading and writing and content with the simple life we have.A: To many of my friends, I know what to treasure, what to tolerate and what to share, I will never forget my old friends and keep making new friends. I will not he cold and indifferent to the poor friends and will show concern for them, even if it is only a comforting word.2.A:Do you have any idea about the proverb “When in Rome,do as the Romes do”?B:There is no denying that we should do as the Romans do when in Rome. This is an accumulated experience we inherit from our forefathers, and now it is still widely applied to our daily life. The old saying tells us vividly that wherever we are, we should do everything according to local customs.A:You are right! The proverb has profound impact on our interactions with people from other cultures.Do you have some experience about it?B: Last year, my neighbor, Xiao Wang and I went to the U.S. to travel. One day we were lost and it seemed we would never find our way back to our hotel. Suddenly an elderly lady came near us. Excited and trying to be polite, Xiao Wang approached her and asked, Excuse me, how old are you? This polite opening remark in Chinese culture made the lady stare at him in surprise, because age is a taboo in Western cultures. Seeing the embarrassment, I asked, Beautiful weather, isn t it? Of course the lady said Yes and happily told us the way to our hotel. A:A lesson that can be drawn from the above example is obvious. Whether we know the local customs will play a crucial role in our relationship with others. More importantly, doing everything as the locals do will help us make more friends and avoid troubles.3.A:How do you prefer to celebrate your birthday?B:I usually like to spend the actual day with my family and then have a separate time to go out on the town with my friends. What are your traditions?A:I also like to break the day up and spend part of it with just my family and then the other part of it with my friends. I like to usually keep the celebrations small, because it can be a bit overwhelming to do a huge birthday blow out. I think its fun to do something with all of the people the bring you the most joy in your life, like have a BBQ or go wine tasting or something easy like that.B:Sometimes I try to spend my birthday with everyone that is available in my family. Although its gotten more difficult as everyone has grown, gotten busy or moved. My last birthday just a few months ago I traveled to my mothers home and met my sister there. The three of us went out for a great dinner then we came home and had a few drinks and talked about days past.A:Sounds great!Next time I will try it!4.A:Do you have to give oral presentations to your classmates and teachers sometime?B:Rarely.I am a taciturn person.I am scary about talking before others, although I also know it benefits a lot.A:Well,do you think what the purpose of an oral presentation is?B:The main purpose of an oral presentation is to present subject content in an organized, concise and effective manner to a live audience. When delivering an oral presentation, certain challenges require ingenious techniques to engage into an impromptu interaction with the audience members. Planning, writing and completing are three key elements in any oral presentation process.A:You get the point! Why cant you try your hard to give oral presentations to your classmates and teachers more frequently?B:OK.I will try.5.A:It seems that my memory has been decreased recently. As you can see,I didnt pass my history lesson.Do you have any suggestions?B:You ought to improve your memory.I have some tips for you.First,to use association effectively, you can create an image in your mind to help you remember a word or an image. Second, use association to remember numbers. Lets say you keep forgetting your student ID every time you need to use it again. Third, use chunking. Chunking is a way of grouping things together to help you memorize them. Random lists of things can be especially difficult to remember. To make it easier, try categorizing the individual things from the listA:Your advice is very helpful. But as far as Im concerned, maybe its a sleep problem. Its amazing how poor sleep can hurt our memory. If you have trouble sleeping at night or simply are not getting enough hours of sleep, it could be causing your memory problems. Its solely depends upon our preceptive and attitude towads life.Instead I say MONEY IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF ALL EVIL that happen all arounds us.So dont make Make money your GOD!B:Your claim appears persuasive. But you cannt deny that Money is the part of Happy life. you see, lots of people are suffering and scarifying for money. But i wont say money is the HAPPY. but after we have enough money we can achieve half Happy. Desire only what you can achieve, dont be envy on others ability and achievements. always look to poor peoples life youll be happy.A:You are all right.7.A: It is said that there are about half of people in China are smoking. Many young boys and girls have the habit of smoking, though
