Hes calmer than Sam.b. Keyvocabulary: taller ,shorter ,thinner ,longer ,heavier ,wilder ,calmer ,quieter ,funnier ,smarter ,more athletic ,more outgoing ,more popular ,more serious 2. Learn to listen to the key words3. Learn to make the description 4. Lead the students to cultivate the good personal traits and spirit of loving motherland .二. The focus and difficult points (重点和难点)1. The focus : the target language Is that Sam?No ,thats Tom . He has shorter hair than Sam . Hes calmer than Sam . 主语(sb /sth)+be +形容词比较级+than +.2. The difficult points : the comparatives with er /ier and more 三. Teaching methods (教学方法)1. Apply different kinds of teaching methods a. Task-based teaching approachb. The cognitive approach c. The oral approachd. The natural approach2. Learning method guidance (学法指导)a. Autonomous learning and cooperative investigation (自主学习、合作探究)b. Let the students work in pairs to learn the cooperative learningc. Students learn to describe each other and respect others d. Ask students to learn by doing3. The teaching means(教学手段)Multi-media,computer,projector,courseware,bodylanguage ,listening ,practice ,chart ,photos ,record ,pattern-drills ,question-answer drills 四. Teaching steps (教学过程) Step1 Free talk Get the whole class to sing some English songs and then the teacher says something about the students and music .Then the teacher writes “smart, active ,lovely ,happy ,exciting and relaxing” on the blackboard .Step 2 Revision Showing a picture of Liu Huan and get the students to answer three questions and revise some personality words .Step 3 Presentation Showing some more pictures of the famous persons and teaching some personality words by answering “ What is like”? Step 4 Practice Get the students to practice the new words by asking and answering some questions . Get the students to match each words with its opposite Step5 Presentation Present the comparative words by comparing some pairs of people Showing the words of how to compare people and things :a._ taller than _b._more expensive than _Step 6 Practice Get the students to try to compare and make some sentences Showing three pairs of twins and get the students to finish 1b and 2a Get the students to work in groups of three and try to compare themselvesStep 7 Discussion Ask the students to answer “ Who is better ,Wang Fei or Guo Hai ?”According to the chart .Step 8 Summary First, get the students to listen and check the adjectives they hear . Then, get the students to sum up the rules of the comparative words.Step 9 Guessing Ask the students to describe one of their classmates and let the other students guess Who he/she is .Step 10 Speaking Ask the students to answer “What is your wish about yourself /your class /your school /your town /your motherland (祖国) ?by using the comparative words Step 11 Learning a poem Get the students to learn a poem and ask them to try to recite it .Good,better,best,Never let it rest;Tillgoodisbetter,Andbetter is best.Step 12 Homework1.
