要受到噪音的干扰。为了信息传递的准确性，必须在原信息中加入比实际 需要多一些的信息，这些多出的信息便是冗余。然而人具有主观能动性， 语境也处于不断变化之中，信息论的信息传递模式不能直接应用丁：人类的 言语研究，为此作者给出了新的信息传递模式。 众所周知，人类有讲究简洁精练的天性，也就是要遵循经济原则。与 之相对应，人们通常对冗余现象存在偏见，把“冗余”简单等| 一j 于“累赘”、 “冗长”，“违背经济原则”。事实上，冗余现象存在于语言的一切层面：。 冗余具有防止信息在传递过程中发生错误或亏损的作用，除此以外还具有 寒暄应酬、弥补认知能力、消除歧义等一系列功能。作者把冗余分为语言 内冗余和语言外冗余两大块进行研究，对冗余的存在形式划分为形态冗 余、语法冗余、语义冗余、语用冗余、副语言冗余等各种类型，并提出“积 极冗余”( p o s i t i v er e d u n d a n c y ) 和“消极冗余”( n e g a t i v er e d u n d a n c y ) 一说。 冗余现象是一个十分宽泛的领域，不同的学者有不同的看法，至今也没有 一个公认的定义，但这并不能否认人们对冗余现象研究的存在。本文也力 图从人际交流的角度对冗余重新进行定义，使之更具有解释力。 “语用学”曾度被认为是语占学家和哲学家的“废纸篓” ( w a s t e b a s k e t ) ，在中国也曾被视为“与语言学争抢课题”。然而美国学者 格莱斯f g r i c e ) 的“合作原则”( c o o p e r a t i v ep r i n c i p l e ) 及其“会话含义” ( c o n v e r s a t i o n a li m p l i c a t u r e ) 的发表以及奥斯丁( a u s t i n ) 和摩尔勒 r s e a r l e ) 拘言语行为理论f s p e e c ha c tt h e o r y ) 最终使浯用学从一个概念发 展成一个朝气蓬勃的学科。钱冠连( 2 0 0 2 ) 在汉语文化语用学一书中 认为“冗余掌握适当与否是地道的语用性质。”既然如此，当今的语用 学理论能对兀余进行怎样的解释? 为此，作者选取了英美派最具代表性的 语用理论对冗f 余进行分析，比如有格莱斯( g r i c e ) 的“合作原则” ( c o o p e r a t i v ep r i n c i p l e ) 及其“会话含义”( c o n v e r s a t i o n a li m p l i c a t u r e ) ； 斯帕伯和威尔逊( s p e r b e f w i l s o n ) 提出的“关联理论”( t h er e l e v a n c e t h e o r y ) 、李奇( t e e c n ) 提出的“礼貌原则”( t h ep o l i t e n e s sp r i n c i p l e ) 、布朗 和列文森( b r o w n & l e v i n s o n ) 提出的“面子理论”( f a c e s a v i n g t h e o r y ) 。 为更充分地解释冗余现象的语用含义，作者在诸多语用学家研究成果的基 础上提出了改进后的语用推导模式。 语言是文化的重要载体，研究语言现象当然离不开文化。信息革命和 全球化以及中国对外交流的进一步加深都让我们在研究语言时不能忽略 文化因素的影响。在“冗余的语际语用学观”一章中，作者从语言语用学 ( p r a g m a l i n g u i s t i c s ) 和社交语用学( s o c i o p r a g m a t i c s ) 的角度研究冗余现象 在语用迁移中的表现。作者认为冗余现象与中西哲学观念和思维范式以及 汉语“以意驭形”和英语“以形制意”的原因有关。 作者进一步认为能否恰当地传达和理解冗余成分的语用功能是一个 人交际能力( c o m m u n i c a t i v ec o m p e t e n c e ) 高低的表现。为此在外语教学 中应注重材料的真实性。作者还阐明如何将冗余现象应用于外语教学。
