硕士论文英语s 属格名词与中心词之间的生命度等级的认知研究 摘要 生命度是一个普遍存在的认知概念，体现在语言的结构中。在s - 属格中，生命度 涉及到两种等级，绝对生命度等级和相对生命度等级。作为一个绝对的等级，生命度 指属格名词的生命性，即只有人、高等动物等一些有生命的名词可以作为属格名词构 成s 属格( 夸克，1 9 8 5 ：4 4 3 ) 。而作为一个相对的等级，指的是在s - 属格中，生命度等 级高的名词往往位于生命度等级低的名词之前( h a w k i n s ，1 9 81 ：1 7 9 3 81 ) 。本论文指 出，传统语法重视属格名词的绝对生命度原则，往往忽视相对生命度等级的作用。其 实相对生命度等级原则也在起作用，只是没有绝对生命度原则明显。随着无生名词作 属格名词的范围扩大，相对生命度等级越来越引起人们注意，而这方面的研究却不多。 本文主要研究相对生命度等级对s 属格构成的影响，从而丰富对s 属格的研究，为人 们更好的理解英语语言作出贡献。 本文认为，在s 一属格的形成过程中，人类或有生名词作属格名词的这一限制条件 放宽了，但与此同时，属格名词和中心词之间的相对生命度的作用逐渐成为主要约束 条件，这样就从相对生命度的角度限制任意一个s 一属格进入语言中。本文提出假设： 在s 属格构成中，s 一属格中的相对生命度等级次序不会改变：相对生命度等级对s 一 属格的制约作用有增强的倾向；属格名词和中心词的最终可能限制条件将是：属格名 词和中心词之间的关系不能侵犯人类作为万物主宰的地位。 本文通过一个1 0 0 万字的跨年代和体裁的语料对比分析，对上述假设进行验证： 小说语料中收集到2 7 8 7 个符合要求的s 属格，其中1 5 个违反相对生命度等级 ( 0 5 4 ，) ；纽约时报语料中收集到6 6 5 个s -
