内容提要 现今的外语教学中，个性化教学曰益受到重视。重视学生的学习主体地位、 强调以学生为中心、运用交际教学手法进行外语教学已成为主导方向。外语教学研究重心转向了研究学生如何学和学生的个性差异( 学习动机、学习态度、 学习风格、认知策略等) 及其在外语教学中的启示。在学习者个性差异中，学 习动机具有确定学生学习行为的指向性，能赋予学生学习行为的驱动力，学习动机直接影响学习者的投入强度和努力方向，不同学习动机的学生具有不同的 学习期望。同时学生外语学习动机和外语学习偏好( 对学习内容、课堂教学内容、课堂教学的手法、课堂及课外教学活动的偏爱取向) 之间存在着一定的关 联，并且影响学生对课堂教学的态度及其学习效果。了解学习者英语学习动机与英语学习偏好的特点，有助于教师有意识地优化与引导学生的英语学习动机 和适当调整自己的教学，缩小英语教学目标和学生英语学习期望之问的差距，使英语教学更有效。 本文从阐述外语学习与外语教学开始，介绍外语学习动机和偏好的含义和分类，参照国内外研究外语学习动机具有代表性的分类理论( 融合型动机、工 具型动机、学校环境下的成就型动机)
