化。由于交通工具的改进和科学技术的迅猛发展，来自世界各地操不同语言的人们 的接触交往空前频繁。这些因素促使语言的接触达到了空前密切的程度。语言的接 触不可避免地会带来借词。正是在长期的语言接触中，英语和汉语相互借用了部分 词语，而且英汉还从其他语言中借用了大量的词语。 中国是一个历史悠久的国家，汉民族是一个有着灿烂文明的伟大民族。在漫长 的人类历史进程中，中国和汉民族曾经取得了丰硕的文明成果，远远地走在了其他 国家和民族的前列。其中一些优秀的文明成果和表示它们的词语一道被其他国家和 民族借用吸收。这些优秀的文明成果使中国人特别是汉民族产生了强烈的自豪感。 长期以来，这种自豪感在一定程度上阻碍了中国的迅速发展，阻碍了中国及时地从 国外引进有用的先进文明成果，也阻碍了汉语对外来词的借用。英国和英民族则不 同。在其短短的历史中，英国和英民族曾屡次被侵略也曾屡次侵略其他国家和地区， 形成了开放的民族心态，积极地从其他语言借入有用的词语；同时一些英语词语也 被借入到其他语言中。 那么，英汉借词之间是否存在不对称性呢? 围绕这一问题，我们主要从语源范围、数量和影响这三方面探讨了英、汉语中 的借词，并从领域、数量和影响这三方面探讨了英语中的汉语借词和汉语中的英语
