- ) 是美国文坛上重要的后现代作家。在美国后 现代文学中，他被公认为领军人物之一。从1 9 6 0 年他的第一部作品出版起，迄今为止 多克特罗共出版了1 0 部小说。拉格泰姆时代是他的代表作之一，曾荣获1 9 7 6 年全 国图书评论界奖和美国高校学术界文科和文学奖。多克特罗的小说表现出十分明显的新 历史主义倾向。他的小说对历史进行了新的演绎，体现出历史是开放的，并且不可避免
