摘要 翻译作为不同语言之间人们交流思想和文化不可缺的手段，在传 播文化信息、促进不同民族间的相互了解与民族融合的过程中的重要 作用已日益凸显。而在交流与翻译活动过程中由于各民族语言文化异 质性的客观存在会不可避免地出现信息交流的障碍，其中作为语言文 化异质性极致体现形式的文化空缺现象更是使交流者进入了两难的 境地。为积极应对空缺现象带来的问题，促使交流与翻译的顺利进行， 则必须在交流与翻译过程中逐步探寻处理文化空缺的有效途径和办 法。这一点在当前所处的全球化背景下显得更加紧迫和重要。本文探 讨了语言与文化以及文化、文化空缺与翻译的密切关系，分析了空缺 产生的原因，描述了空缺的类型及在汉语和英语中的具体表现形式， 总结了文化空缺给翻译带来的主要问题，并试图从归化和异化两个角 度来探讨翻译中的文化空缺因素问题，寻求恰当的处理办法。 文章共分为五部分： 前言中通过对翻译问题进行处理的语言学转向到文化转向的转 变，提出以文化视角看待和处理翻译问题的重要性和必要性。同时指 出文化空缺会不可避免地给跨文化交流和翻译带来难以解决的问题。 第一章集中探讨了语言与文化，文化与翻译以及翻译与文化空缺 之间的密切关系。 第二章简要介绍了近几十年来中外学者们对文化空缺问题的研 究，分析了文化空缺产生的原因并结合实例描述了文化空缺因素在汉 语和英语中的具体存在形式，总结了文化空缺现象给翻译带来的主要 问题。 第三章基于语言、文化、文化空缺与翻译之间的密切关系，建议 从文化视角运用归化和异化两种策略来处理翻译中的文化空缺因素， 同时指出归化和异化作为文化翻译的两种策略是相辅相成、取长补短 的两种手段，并且结合实例总结说明了处理文化空缺的常用翻译技 巧。 文章最后强调对文化空缺的认识和处理关系到跨文化交流和翻
