硕士学位论文 m a s l e r st h e s i s 内容摘要 沈从文先生的作品，因其对永恒人性的深入探讨，对现代人处境的迫切关注和 艺术上的独到风格，在当今中国乃至世界文学界愈来愈受到重视。沈从文丰富的想 象力和罕见的对艺术的挚诚，使得他的成功小说不仅能强烈感染一般读者，而且经 得住批评家严密的批判性的细读。沈从文先生自己颇为看重的边城，更是被誉 为“一颗千古不磨的珠玉”。边城至今已经出现了两个英译本，第一个译者为 金陧和r o b e r tp a y n e ，1 9 4 7 年推出，第二个译者为戴乃迭，1 9 8 1 年第一版。 对沈从文及其边城的研究，国内外学者已经做出了卓越探索，取得了丰富 的成果，但对其英译本的研究尚很缺乏。除了华东师大吴连娇0 6 年硕士论文( 边 城) 英译的衔接研究，国内外译界尚无人对边城英译本进行过系统的批评研 究。 边城是因其独特的风格而拥有恒久的艺术魅力，因此，英译本对原作风格 的传达是否成功，很大程度上决定了译本的生命力。本文拟采用文学文体学为分析 工具，以戴译本为主要分析对象，必要时兼用金译本作为对照，全面系统地分析戴 译本对原作风格的再现情况，发掘其成功之处，对尚有改进余地的地方提出自己的 见解，旨在彰显文学文体学对文学翻译活动及其鉴赏批评活动的重要指导作用。 文学文体学是语言学与文学批评的交叉学科，它既重视语言学的描写，又重视 文学批评的阐释。它以语言风格和文体特点为研究对象，注重探讨作者如何通过对 语言的选择来表达主题意义和加强美学效果。因此，在发掘文学语篇美学意义的同 时，能集两学科之长，有效避免文学批评中印象主义、主观倾向的影响，最大程度 地争取评论的客观性。将文学文体学应用于小说翻译，有利于译者增强文体意识， 更为注重形式本身所蕴涵的文学意义，从而更好地把握语言形式的美学功能和文体 价值，避免翻译中的文体损差。 边城风格上的鲜明特色在于其宁静柔美的意境，田园抒情诗的氛围，含蓄 幽远的情致，因此被夏志清先生赞为玲珑剔透的牧歌。边城原作的风格体现在 五个重要文体特征上：富于抒情性的写景，浓郁的地方特色，反复叙事手法的应用 及叙事视角上的微妙转换和象征手法的使用。本文细致分析了戴译本对以上五个文 体特征的传达，对戴译的处理手法做出了合理评价，并在必要处提出了自己的改进 方案。 本文通过对边城原作和译作深入细致的文体分析，证明了戴译本总体上成 硕士学位论文 m a s t e r st h e s i s 功再现了原作风格，虽然在个别地方译者的处理尚可改进，也说明了文学文体学是
