摘要 隐喻作为一种修辞手段，被广泛应用于广告文本。本文试图在目的论观照下探讨广 告隐喻翻译的原则、策略及方法。 隐喻早在亚里士多德时期就引起了西方学者的关注。2 0 世纪末，隐喻研究渐渐突破 了语言学界限，成为众多学科的研究对象，7 0 年代后期，国际学术界对隐喻的研究达到 了高潮。9 0 年代以来，国内学者对隐喻研究的兴趣和水平也在逐步提高。 近几十年来，世界范围内的翻译研究取得了很大发展，出现了很多新的理论，既有 像多元系统论这样的纯理论，也有像目的论这样兼有纯理论和应用理论特点的理论。后 者不仅可以解释翻译现象，也可用来指导翻译实践。目的论以目的为总则。大胆摆脱等 效论的束缚，为世界翻译理论界包括中国译学界开辟了一条崭新的道路。该理论已被应 用于非文学翻译甚至是文学翻译，但目前很少有学者将此理论应用于隐喻翻译实践，所 以本文尝试在目的论观照下研究广告中隐喻的翻译。 通过研究，本文印证了目的论对此类翻译实践具有指导作用，并在目的论的观照下 总结出了广告隐喻翻译的原则：一，遵循目的法则，以广告最终的促销目的为出发点和 旨归；二，迎合目的语的语言规范与习惯：三，尊重目的语文化。在这些原则的基础上， 作者进而提出了广告隐喻翻译的一套翻译策略与方法：一，在目的语中再现源语喻体， 或直译，或将隐喻译为明喻，或将隐喻译为明喻并附以喻意；二，改写源语喻体，或用 目的语中合适的喻体替代源语喻体，或意译；三，将源语喻体的再现与改写相结合。 本文共分为四章： 第一章为引言部分，简要介绍了本论文的研究动机、研究目的以及论文的整体结构。 第二章对目的论的形成、发展以及国内外对隐喻和隐喻翻译的研究进行了综述。 第三章首先对广告的目的、隐喻在广告中的应用以及隐喻翻译存在的主要问题进行
