系统功能语言学理论是由韩礼德创立并由其他一些学者发展完善起来的。随着 系统功能语言学理论的快速发展，这一学科被广泛应用到其他领域，尤其在篇章分析 方面更是如此。本篇论文就是从系统功能语法的角度来尝试对英语新闻语篇进行分析 并指导其翻译，旨在研究新闻语言的深层特征和探索新闻英语翻译的最佳方法。量化 分析是作者的主要研究方法，所得出的统计数据不仅具有科学性，而且对这类篇章的 翻译实践具有指导意义。这是本文的一大亮点。 新闻语篇通常被认为是现代社会最平常的一种写作文体。因此对新闻语篇的研究 是较为普遍，从词法和句法角度对新闻语篇的研究则更多。但是很少有人尝试把系统 功能语法作为分析框架来指导新闻语篇和新闻翻译的研究。本文的新颖之处就是把 功能语言学导入到对新闻语篇特征的分析和新闻翻译方法的研究中。 由于新闻报道在所有新闻文体中占主导地位，其语言特征最具有代表性，因此本 文将以新闻报道为研究的切入点进行新闻语篇分析。文中所提及的新闻语篇均为新闻 报道语篇。 论文的第一章从历史的角度介绍系统功能语法并解释韩礼德有关理论的概念。作 者侧重于对元功能的解释。 第二章是对新闻语篇的简要介绍，并归纳出其基本文体特征。 第三章和第四章是本文的重点。在第三章，作者将随机从三大著名英文报纸( 华 盛顿邮报、纽约时报、中国日报) 中选取十篇有关卡特琳娜飓风的报道作为本章的语 料库，并以其为基础对新闻语篇深层语言特征进行探讨与研究。通过对新闻语篇的及 物性系统、语气和情态系统以及主述位系统的量化分析，作者给出综合结论：新闻语 篇趋向使用物质过程、过去时态、简单主位和主位同一型主位推进模式，并且极少包 含情态结构和情态成分。 最后一章正是本文的新颖之处，因为在这一部分作者将探究正确的新闻翻译方 法。作者从对五篇双语新闻的对比分析中概括了英语新闻语篇汉译方法。量化分析仍 交叉型主位推进模式译成主位同一型模式等。总之，从功能语言学的角度看，翻译是 交际功能的转换过程。一篇好的翻译作品应既能传达原语语篇作者的意图又能表达原 语语篇的交际功能。 本篇论文的目的是想证明在对新闻语篇的分析和新闻翻译的研究中采用系统功 能语法是有着重大意义。作者希望此论文能为今后的新闻语言的研究和新闻翻译提供 一个新的平台。 关键词：系统功能语法、元功能、新闻语篇、新闻翻译。 f u n c
