摘要 约翰斯坦贝克( 1 9 0 2 1 9 6 8 ) 是文学史上普利策奖和诺贝尔奖的得主，国 内读者熟悉他是因为他的代表作愤怒的葡萄。而他的另外一部小说烦恼的 冬天，虽然没套像愤怒的葡萄那样给作者赢来很高的声望，但和其谴的名 作一样，自从问世以来就引起了评论家的广泛兴趣。然而，国内对这本书的研 究还非常少，考虑到这一点，本文作者拟从卡尔荣格的集体无意识和原型理 论角度来研究这部作品，也就是从原型理论的角度分析它的主要入物，主题， 以及小说中另辨两个物体，蛇和护身符及其它们的象征意义。 卡尔荣格因集体无意识和原型理论的提出而闻名。集体无意识，即“精 神遗产 ，是指人作为一个物种的经验贮藏，是人生下来就具备的种知识。集 体无意识的内容就叫做原型。在荣格看来，有缀多种原型的存在。如果把荣格 和斯坦贝克放在一起，会发现荣格致力于通过对人的大脑的探索，从理论土来 研究各种原型，而斯坦贝克则力求通过生动、流行的小说来揭示各种原型的实 际表现形式。从这个角度来讲，该研究是切实可行的。 仔细阕读小说会发现，小说当中的三个主要人物，伊桑，他的妻子玛褥， 和玛姬可以从荣格的原型理论来分析。在这三个人物当中，主人公伊桑代表的 不仅仅是一个原型，可以从三个层面来对他进行解剖，即阴影原型，人格面具 原型以及自性原型。通过三个层面的分析之后，可以对主人公有个全面的理解， 嚣且他道德堕落的原因也可从中找到答案。另外蘸个人物，玛丽和玛姬分别是 大地母亲原型以及女巫原型的典型代表，所以将从这两个方面对她们的言语及 行为进行细致剖析。 除了对主要人物的探讨之井，本论文还从集体无意识和原型理论角度来分 橱小说的主题，尤其把重点放在通过阴影原型来研究人性的问题，两虽得出结 论，即人性的阴影原型是人性恶的根源。然而伊桑的觉醒在另一方面给读者留 下的是对人性善的希望。，
