业革命在消费社会形成的过程中发挥了各自的作用。 消费社会有许多不同于其他社会的表现形式。但是在白噪音中体现最明显的有 两个。一个是商品的极大丰富。德里罗在作品中翔实地记录了消费社会的丰盛和堆积。 而另一个特点就是学术研究的商业化。在消费社会里，不仅大量的文化产品被生产出来， 并且各种思想、艺术、知识分子被生产出来。主人公杰克格拉迪尼为美国中部某大学 教授，创立了“希特勒研究系”。他用历史上最骇人听闻的大屠杀的始作俑者希特勒， 作为学术研究的对象以此建立自己的声望。 消费社会有许多特点，但在白噪音中，有两个特点最明显。他们是大众媒介和 超级市场。大众媒介支持着消费社会，而电视的作用尤其重要。电视已经成为美国家庭 的首要力量。在超级市场和大型商场购物成为了消费社会的“宗教仪式”，它是消费社 会的另一大特点。人们疯狂地涌入超市，他们的激情犹如虔诚的教徒去朝拜。 第三部分：消费社会所带来的负面作用 消费社会的到来在给人们的生活带来了很大改变的同时也带来了一些负面影响。首 先，它引起了“上瘾”和“异化”。观众成了电视迷。虽然他们后悔自己沉醉于电视的 行为，但是却没有足够的意志力抵抗电视的诱惑。 大规模的生产要求大规模的消费。人们被鼓励消费甚至浪费，因为这有利于社会的 i v 发展。只有人们不停地消费，生产才能被持续。在白噪音中，每一个中产阶级的家 庭中都有商品从超市源源不断地流入，然后又以垃圾的形式从家中流出。 在消费社会中，丰盛和暴力并驾齐驱。暴力并不是消费社会特有的现象，在其他社 会也存在，但是在消费社会它却与丰盛紧密联系在一起。这种新暴力有两个特点：一是 无目标、无目的，二是大众媒体为人们提供了暴力范型。 第四部分：结论
