摘要 二十世纪六七十年代，受结构主义与现象学的影响，罗伯特尧 斯与沃尔夫冈伊瑟尔创立了接受美学，认为文学文本存在着空白与 不确定性。伊瑟尔认为在建构文学文本的过程当中，读者的作用不可 忽视，文学文本中存在“空白”与“不确定性”，尤其是2 0 世纪的文 学文本。接受美学认为，文学文本中的构成要素有作者与读者。文学 创作应有一定的美学追求，即自觉地创造更多的“空白 与“不确定 性”。接受美学作为一种较新的批评理论，适合读者在阅读中再创作 的要求，即发挥其在文学创作中的积极性。 拍卖第4 9 批作为品钦的一部举足轻重的小说无疑是这一思想 的典型，在适度范围内创造了空白与不确定性，创造了偏离效应，能 够打破读者原有的视野。这样，读者的文学经验就会增加，期待视野 也会拓宽，审美能力也会随之增强，欣赏水平进而提高。本文应用接 受美学的理论方法来研究这部小说中的不确定性。小说留给读者的是 空白与不确定性，要求读者发挥自己的想象去填充，这样才能深入了 解这部小说的深层含义和所具有的独特的文学价值。 本文从三个方面探索拍卖第4 9 批中的不确定性，即：情景 设置、情节、象征等。论文引文部分简单介绍了托马斯品钦与他的 小说，并简述接受美学的主旨思想。论文的第一章从小说的情景设置 来分析小说中的三个不确定性的体现：碎片式的信息、社会的无法沟 通性、场景的多文化并置等。第二章探讨了故事情节的不确定性，分 ； 析随着故事的开端、发展和结局所呈现出的不确定性因素。小说整体 上所具有的不确定的因素也主要是从这一章体现出来。第三章主要阐 释了小说里的象征的不确定性，借助读者的想象思维，文章指出一些 隐含的信息所具有的不确定的象征意义，以及这些象征所暗示的内 容。本章第二节阐释了小说人物名字象征含义的不确定性。这些人物 包括女主人公俄底帕、俄底帕死去的前男友皮尔斯、俄底帕的私人医 生希拉里乌斯、以及她的委托律师梅兹格。最后一章基于前三章的分 析，进一步探究小说设置如此繁复、如此奥秘的“不确定性 的意图， 旨在推理出了这种不确定所暗示的意义，从而更进一步证实不确定性 文学文本所独有的文学魅力。 本论文从接受美学的角度研究小说的不确定性，为研究品钦的作
