摘要 本文尝试运用原型批评理论，从文学作品的幻想因素入手，对英国作家托尔金的作 品指环王和中国作家吴承恩的作品西游记进行对比分析，探讨中西幻想文学的 特点，以期揭示二者独特的文学特征。 全文共分为五章。第一章简要介绍中西方两部典型的幻想文学作品指环王和西 游记的独特之处，通过对比，可以发现这两部作品有很多相似之处，但由于国度的不 同也使两者之间存在着较大的差异。第二章介绍这两部作品中的幻想成分。第三章对两 部作品中的神话原型因素进行了分析。指环王中的三个主要人物甘道夫，佛罗多， 皿拉冈以不同的原型身份出现，在故事中发挥了不可代替的作用。相比之下西游记 中的原型因素比较多：仙石迸猴可以追溯到远古灵石神话原型；追求长生不老表现为远 古灵魂崇拜原型；动植物幻化形象表现为远古动植物图腾原型；以及仙庭诸神可以视为 远古星月神话原型。第四章从主人公佛罗多和唐三藏，故事情节，主题，写作风格等方 面分析了这两部作品，探讨了二者由于不同的文化而形成的不同写作特点。第五章是对 全文的总结。虽然这两部作品同为幻想文学，但是由于文化背景的不同，所以侧重点不 同，更多地反映了中西幻想文学不同的文化特征。 本文希望从一个新的视角来研究指环王和西游记，同时将中西方幻想文学
