Clarity originally refers to throttle. In Chinas traditional calendar, the year into twenty four seasons, used to reflect the climate change and guide agricultural production, and clarity is one of them, time about in the vernal equinox later, the Gu yu before. Tomb-sweeping day, also called TaQingJie, that it is according to the solar calendar in every year on April 4 to 6, it is spring season of TuLu vegetation , is also the season for spring outing. According to folk religion, the spirits of deceased ancestors still live underground and look after the family. The tombs are said to be their houses, thus it is very important to keep the tombs clean. The Qingming Festival is spent honoring the dead, which is one of many ways good Confucians demonstrate filial piety. On this day, people visit their family graves to remove any underbrush that has grown. They would uproot weeds near the gravesites, wipe the tombstones and decorate the tombstones with fresh flowers. And then they will set out offerings of food and paper money. Qingming Festival is also a time to enjoy a cup of tea, because the tea produced around Qingming Festival is said to be with high-quality. What makes flying kites during this festival special is that people cut the string while the kite is in the sky to let it fly free. It is said this brings good luck and that diseases can be eliminated by doing this. It drizzles endless during the rainy season in spring.Travelers along the road look gloomy and miserableWhen I ask a shepherd boy where I can find a tavernHe points at Apricot Village farawayThe Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous rice(糯米)wrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed leaves) and racing dragon boats. The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races, especially in the southern provinces where there are many rivers and lakes. Thisregatta(赛舟会)commemorates the death of Qu Yuan , an honest minister who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. Qu was a minister of the State of Chu situated in present-day Hunan and Hubei provinces, during theWarring States Period(475-221BC)(战国时期). He was upright, loyal and highly esteemed for his wise counsel that brought peace and prosperity to the state. However, when a dishonest and corrupt prince vilified Qu, he was disgraced and dismissed from office. Realizing that the country was now in the hands of evil and corrupt officials, Qu grabbed a large stone and leapt into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month. Nearby fishermen rushed over to try and save him but were unable to even recover his body. Thereafter, the state declined and was eventually conquered by the State of Qin. The people of Chu who mourned the death of Qu threw rice into the river to feed his ghost every year on the fifth day of the fifth month. But one year, the spirit of Qu appeared and told the mourners that a hugereptile(爬行动物)in the river had stolen the rice. The spirit then advised them to wrap the rice in silk and bind it with five different-colored threads before tossing it into the river. During the Duanwu Festival, a glutinous rice pudding called zong zi is eaten to symbolize the rice offerings to Qu. Ingredients such as beans, lotus seeds(莲子),chestnuts(栗子), pork fat and the golden yolk of a salted duck egg are often added to the glutinous rice. The pudding is then wrapped with bamboo leaves, bound with a kind of raffia and boiled in salt water for hours. The dragon-boat races symbolize the many attempts to rescue and recover Qus body. A typical dragon boat ranges from 50-100 feet in length, with a beam of about 5.5 feet, accommodating two paddlers seated side by side. A wooden dragon head is attached at the bow, and a dragon tail at thestern(船尾). A banner hoisted on a pole is also fastened at the stern and the hull is decorated with red, green and blue scales edged in gold. In the center of the boat is a canopied shrine behind which the drummers, gong(铜锣)beaters andcymbal(铙钹)players are seated to set the pace for the paddlers. There are also men positioned at the bow to set off firecrackers, toss rice into the water and pretend to be looking for Qu. All of the noise and pageantry creates an atmosphere of gaiety and excitement for the participants and spectators alike. The races are held among different clans, villages and organizations, and the winners are awarded medals, banners, jugs of wine and festive meals. Thatis,onMondayevening,NiuLangandZhiNuwillmeetonabridgeofmagpies(鹊桥)acrosstheMilkyWay(银河).Chinesegrannieswillremindchildrenthattheywouldnotbeabletoseeanymagpiesonthateveningbecauseallthemagpieshavelefttoformabridgeintheheavenswiththeirwings.RomanticlegendThelegendhasbeenhandeddownfornearly2millennia.ThestoryhasbeenrecordedasfarbackastheJinDynasty(256-420AD).PoetscomposedhundredsofversesonthelovestoryandmanytypesofChineseoperatellthestory.TheChinesepeoplebelievethatthestarVega(织女星),eastoftheMilkyWay,isZhiNuand,attheconstellationofAquila(天鹰座),onthewesternsideoftheMilkyWay,NiuLangwaitsforhiswife.ZhiNuwassaidtobetheyoungestofsevendaughtersoftheQueenofHeaven.Withhersisters,sheworkedhardtoweavebeautifulcloudsinthesky,whileNiuLangwasapoororphancowherd,drivenoutofhishomebyhiselderbrotherandhiscruelwife.NiuLanglamentedoverhislonelyandpoorlifewithanoldcow,hisonlyfriendandcompanion.Themagicalcowkindlytoldhimofawaytofindabeautifulandnicewomanashislifecompanion.Underthedirectionofthecow,NiuLangwenttotheriversideonanevening,wherethesevenfairiesslippedoutoftheirheavenlypalacetobathe.Hetookoneofthebeautifulsilkdressesthefairieshadleftonthebank.Whenthefairiesleftthewater,theyoungestcouldntfindherclothesandhadtoseehersistersflybacktoheavenwithouther.ThenNiuLangcameoutwiththedressandaskedtheyoungestfairy,ZhiNu,tostaywithhim.SeveralyearspassedonEarth,whichwereonlyafewdaysinheaven.NiuLangandZhiNulivedhappilytogetherandhadtwochildrenbeforetheQueenofHeavendiscoveredZhiNusabsence.ShewassoannoyedshehadZhiNubroughtbacktoheaven.Seeinghisbelovedwifeflyinginthesky,NiuLangwasterrified.Hecaughtsightofthecowhidehangingonawall.Themagicalcowhadtoldhimbeforedyingofoldage:Keepthecowhide(牛皮)foremergencyuse.Puttingthecowhideon,hewentafterhiswifewithhistwochildren.Withthehelpofthecowhide,NiuLangwasabletofollowZhiNuintoheaven.HewasabouttoreachhiswifewhentheQueenshowedupandpulledoffherhairpintodrawalinebetweenthetwo.ThelinebecametheSilverRiverinheaven,ortheMilkyWay.ZhiNuwentbacktotheheavenlyworkshop,goingonweavingtheclouds.Butshewassosad,andmissedherhusbandacrosstheSilverRiversomuchthatthecloudssheweavedseemedsad.Finally,theQueenshowedalittlemercy,allowingthecoupletomeetonceeveryyearontheSilverRiver.Well-knownpoemOneofthemostfamouspoemsaboutthelegendwaswrittenbyQinGuanofintheSongDynasty(960-1279).FairyOfTheMagpieBridgeAmongthebeautifulclouds,Overtheheavenlyriver,Crossestheweavingmaiden.Anightofrendezvous,Acrosstheautumnsky.Surpassesjoyonearth.Momentsoftenderloveanddream,Sosadtoleavethemagpiebridge. Zhong Qiu Jie, which is also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. It is a time for family members and loved ones to congregate and enjoy the full moon - an auspicious symbol of abundance, harmony and luck. Adults will usually indulge in fragrant mooncakes of many varieties with a good cup of piping hot Chinese tea, while the little ones run around with their brightly-lit lanterns.Zhong Qiu Jie probably began as a harvest festival. The festival was later given a mythological flavour with legends of Chang-E, the beautiful lady in the moon.According to Chinese mythology, the earth once had 10 suns circling over it. One day, all 10 suns appeared together, scorching the earth with their heat. The earth was saved when a strong archer, Hou Yi, succeeded in shooting down 9 of the suns. Yi stole the elixir of life to save the people from his tyrannical rule, but his wife, Chang-E drank it. Thus started the legend of the lady in the moon to whom young Chinese girls would pray at the Mid-Autumn Festival. In the 14th century, the eating of mooncakes at Zhong Qiu Jie was given a new significance. The story goes that when Zhu Yuan Zhang was plotting to overthrow the Yuan Dynasty started by the Mongolians, the rebels hid their messages in the Mid-Autumn mooncakes. Zhong Qiu Jie is hence also a commemoration of the overthrow of the Mongolians by the Han people.During the Yuan Dynasty (A.D.1206-1368) China was ruled by the Mongolian people. Leaders from the preceding Sung Dynasty(A.D.960-1279) were unhappy at submitting to foreign rule, and set how to coordinate the rebellion without it being discovered. The leaders of the rebellion, knowing that the Moon Festival was drawing near, ordered the making of special cakes. Packed into each mooncake was a message with the outline of the attack. On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels successfully attacked and overthrew the government. What followed was the establishment of the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1368-1644). Today, moon cakes are eaten to commemorate this event.Mid-Autumn Day is a traditional festival in China. Almost everyone likes to eat mooncakes on that day. Most families have a dinner together to celebrate the festival. A saying goes, The moon in your hometown is almost always the brightest and roundest. Many people who live far away from homes want to go back to have a family reunion. How happy it is to enjoy the moon cakes while watching the full moon with your family members. Mid-autumn day 中秋节lunar农历mooncake月饼minimooncake 迷你月饼mooncakes with meat / nuts / 肉馅/果仁月饼ham mooncake火腿月饼grapefruit / pomelo / shaddock 柚子glue pudding汤圆lantern / scaldfish灯笼Chang E 嫦娥Hou Yi 后羿light lantern 点灯笼carry the lantern around 提灯笼burn incense 烧香fire dragon dances火龙舞family reunion家庭团聚 / 圆关于重阳节的英文介绍DoubleNinthFestivalThe9thdayofthe9thlunarmonthisthetraditionalChongyangFestival,orDoubleNinthFestival.ItusuallyfallsinOctoberintheGregoriancalendar.InanancientandmysteriousbookYiJing,orTheBookofChanges,number6wasthoughttobeofYincharacter,meaningfeminineornegative,whilenumber9wasthoughttobeYang,meaningmasculineorpositive.SothenumbernineinbothmonthanddaycreatetheDoubleNinthFestival,orChongyangFestival.ChonginChinesemeansdouble.Also,asdoubleninthwaspronouncedthesameasthewordtosignifyforever,bothareJiuJiu,theChineseancestorsconsidereditanauspiciousdayworthcelebration.ThatswhyancientChinesebegantocelebratethisfestivallongtimeago.Thecustomofascendingaheighttoavoidepidemicswaspasseddownfromlongtimeago.Therefore,theDoubleNinthFestivalisalsocalledHeightAscendingFestival.Theheightpeoplewillreachisusuallyamountainoratower.Ancientliteraryfigureshaveleftmanypoemsdepictingtheactivity.Eventoday,peoplestillswarmtofamousorlittleknownmountainsonthisday.Onthisday,peoplewilleatDoubleNinthGao(orCake).InChinese,gao(cake)hasthesamepronunciationwithgao(height).Peopledosojusttohopeprogressineverythingtheyareengagedin.ThereisnofixedwaysfortheDoubleNinthCake,butsupercakeswillhaveasmanyasninelayers,lookinglikeatower.TheDoubleNinthFestivalisalsoatimewhenchrysanthemumblooms.Chinaboastsdiversifiedspeciesofchrysanthemumandpeoplehavelovedthemsinceancienttimes.Soenjoyingtheflourishingchrysanthemumalsobecomesakeyactivityonthisfestival.Also,peoplewilldrinkchrysanthemumwine.Womenusedtosticksuchaflowerintotheirhairorhangitsbranchesonwindowsordoorstoavoidevilness.In1989,theChinesegovernmentdecidedtheDoubleNinthFestivalasSeniorsDay.Sincethen,allgovernmentunits,organizationsandstreetscommunitieswillorganizeanautumntripeachyearforthosewhohaveretiredfromtheirposts.Atthewatersideoronthemountains,theseniorswillfindthemselvesmergedintonature.Younger
