I like to have everything in place. 我喜欢每件东西都在恰当的地方。Your suggestion is quite in place. 你的建议很恰当。【辨析】in place, in places, in place of 是指在适当的位置，或喻指恰当的。它的反义短语是out of place.in place 是有几处或有某些地方的意思。in place of 意为代替，相当于instead of, 作介词用。 Eg. The play went too slowly in place. 这出戏有几处进展太慢。 We use chopsticks in place of knives and forks. 我们用筷子代替刀叉。 Each book is in its place. 每本书都放在恰当的位置上。7. to come to life 意为“复苏，恢复生机” Eg. Dont let this opportunity go by. 不要放过这次机会。He was in when I went by yesterday. 我昨天顺便看去世时他在家。As time goes by youll be more experienced. 随着时间的推移你会更加老练。与“to go ”搭配的其它短语to go about 四处走动；散步（谣言）to go ahead 前进；（用于祈使句）进行（开始）吧！to go all lengths 竭尽全力。不择手段to go off 离去，离开；（枪）射出；（炸弹）爆炸to go on 往前走，继续下去，（时间）过去to go up 上升，增长，被建造起来；上（城市）去to go with the current /tide/times 随波逐流，顺应潮流10. to blow up 意为“爆炸；使充气；发脾气；夸大” Eg. The ship blew up.船爆炸了。 Lets blow up the bridge. 让我们把桥炸掉。 Im sorry I blew up at you. 很抱歉，我对你发脾气了。与“to blow”搭配的其它短语：to blow about 吹散，传播to blow high , blow low 在任何情况下to blow out 吹熄；暴烈【辨析】blow out, explode 均含有“爆炸”之意 blow up 强调有意识有目标地炸毁某物。但有时间与explode 互换，表示某物自行爆炸。explode 常用于指自身带有巨响地爆炸。但有时可与blow up 互换。Eg. The guerrillas blew up a bridge. 游击队员炸毁了桥梁。 A bomb exploded/blew up at the New York airport. 一枚炸弹在纽约机场爆炸。11. by the hundreds 意为“数以百计的” Eg. Under the enemy planes bombing people died by the hundreds. 由于敌机轰炸，死亡人数数以百计。与“by ”搭配使用的类似短语：to rent a house by the year 按年度租房to sell the eggs by the dozen 论打卖蛋to sell the elastic cord by the meter 论米卖松紧带to sell candies by the ounce 论盎斯卖糖块12. to be in store 意为“必将发生；贮存着；等候着” Eg. We dont know what is in store for us. 我们不知道将来的遭遇如何。 We must keep some of these in store for next year. 我们得贮存一些供明年使用。 C. To paraphrase sentences:1. Rushing throngs, blinded by the darkness and the smoke, rushed up one street and down the next, trampling the fallen in a crazy fruitless dash toward safety. People panicked. They rushed into the streets to escape the falling buildings. It was dark and the air was full of smoke so they could not see where they were going. There is no other country quite like China when natural resources are concerned. 就自然资源而言没有任何其他国家可与中国相比。There is no other man quite like him when willpower is concerned.在毅力方面无人与他相比。 Nothing can calm the child down except beating him. 除了揍这个孩子外，什么也无法使他安静下来。 Nothing can make a man successful except hard work. 除了努力工作以外，什么也不会使一个人获得成功。 Such was his character in the past. And so it today. 他的本性过去是这样，如今依然如此。这两句话用来强调某人或某物过去和今天的状态未发生变化。两句话均需使用倒装语序。 E. Writing Style and Technique : 1. Writing Style : Non-novel Description （非小说体描写文） 2. Figure of Speech : Metaphor , Simile, Hyperbole and Personification 3. Wording : Homophone (Homonym) ,Onomatopoeia 措辞（一词多义、同音词、象声词） F. Summary : Our text is not a scientific piece but a piece written to recreate the horror of the eruption. The writer has achieved this effect largely by the use of an enormous number of verbs of action, many of which contain consonant clusters and convey a specific sound effect, e.g .crash, clatter ,topple ,puzzle, stumble, etc, In addition, the sentences are short or broken up by commasa device that creates tension and drama.Step PracticeA.
