(write player, play for, score, goal, the next world cup on the bb, and ask ss to explain their meanings.)read the new words after the teacher. and learn something about football.wipe off the obstacles of the listening for the students.step 2 doing activities1. ask ss to look at the headline of the newspaper article and the picture. ask the following questions: 1) who is he? 2) what is he? 3) what team does he play for? 4) what is he good at? 5) what does he want? 2. read the article together.3. say: do you know how old li hua is? do you know where he was born? do you know how he looks? do you know what his hobbies are? if your answers are no, please listen to the tape. after listening, you will know the answers. 4. 1.the ss answer the questions: 1)hes li hua. 2)he is a football player 3)he plays for huanghe football team. 4)he is good at scoring goals.5) he wants to play football in the next world cup.2.ask some students to tell the class the answers and check them. the answers: li hua, 22, guangdong, huanghe football team, strong, reading books, shanghai)4. ask ss to use the article and the notes to finish part a3. check the answer with the whole class: ( 1. 22 2. strong 3. guangdong 4. reading books 5 huanghe football team 6. world cup 7. like) after checking the answer, ask ss to read part a3 together. improve their ability of listening.step 4 speak up 1. listen to the tape with the question in mind .(books closed) after listening, ask one student to answer the question who is frank? 2. listen to the tape again.(books open) ask and answer the following questions:1) how does daniel look today?
