摘要 田纳西 威廉斯是继奥尼尔之后最伟大的美国剧作家之一 他的许多作品都 具有自传性质 其中 欲望号街车 被公认为威廉斯的代表作 威廉斯本人也 曾提及 欲望号街车 是他的最爱 因为这部作品道出了剧作者的心声 欲望号街车 被誉为 美国的 汉姆雷特 这意味着此部剧作在文学领 域的地位非同一般 同时还表明它是一部错综复杂的杰作 因此 欲望号街车 无疑一直是评论家们讨论的焦点 大多数评论家都把注意力集中在以下几方面 威廉斯剧作中令人震惊的选材 作家本人对人类存在所持的悲观态度 作品中 采用的象征的意义 等等 此外 更多评论家致力于研究威廉斯对刷中两位主角 所持的模棱两可的态度以及二者之间的矛盾冲突 在这个问题上 多数评论家认 为白兰琪和斯坦利之间的矛盾冲突代表了j i t 南方传统和北方工业主义之间的冲 突 他们同时指出 威廉斯本人总是站在白兰琪这边 理沦重新诠释田纳西 威廉斯的 欲 望号街车 本论文主体部分由三章构成 第一章着重分析白兰琪的自恋主义人格 根据 精神障碍症状和统计手册 第三版 所列举的五种关予自恋型人格障碍的诊断标准 白兰琪是一位典型的 自恋主义者 换句话说 她从故事一开始就具有一种非正常人格 即自恋型人格 而这种自恋型人格正是她悲剧性命运的根源 白兰琪的 自恋主义 情结主要通 过三个方面表现出来 首先 她总是沉迷于不切实际的幻想 借此逃避自己历经 苦难的现实世界 其次 通过镜像来揭示她自我崇拜的自恋主义症状 最后 她 总是习惯于把自己看作世界的中心 以上提到的三方面都是自恋型人格的主要症 状 白兰琪正是因为自身的自恋型人格障碍 最终难以逃脱被送入精神病院的命 运 通过第一章中对白兰琪性格的分析 有 点显而易见 她从故事开始就具有 不健康的人格 那么 这种不健康的自恋型人格是如何形成的呢 在第二章中 笔者将追溯白兰琪成为精神病患的整个过程 据弗洛伊德所述 自恋主义 应 进一步分为 原初性自恋主义 阶段及 病理性自恋主义 阶段 作为自我的一 种原初型力比多贯注力 原初性自恋主义 存在于任何生物体 在婴儿能够意 识到他和母亲是两个完全独立的个体之前 他将会把这种贯注力投向自己的母 亲 此时 他把母亲当作自身的一部分 这个过程可以帮助婴儿在日后形成一种 健康的人格 然而 如果他在把贯注力投向客体的过程中遭到失败 他就会把这 种贯注力重新折回自身 在这种情况下 原初性自恋主义 将发展成 病理性 自恋主义 作为一位典型的病理性自恋主义者 这一过程正是白兰琪所经历的 借助这部自传性作品 威廉斯把自己的生活和 欲望号街车 中人物的生活 尤其是白兰琪 进行了对照 因此 在第三章中 笔者将从三方面细分阳纳西 威 廉斯和他的杰作白兰琪之间的身份认同 首先 与白兰琪情况类似
