2014高考英语阅读理解基础全程训练(5)及答案较难题目特训:科普知识类for many of us, aspirin, one of the most common nonprescription drugs, is a constant companion. it is the most effective drug that we have, and if we eliminated all but three drugs, aspirin would definitely be one of the three drugs we should keep. even with all the new drugs available, it still has a place in many of our medicine cabinets, as a “miracle drug” in its ability to fight pain and inflammation (炎症) and even more amazing in its ability to reduce heart attack and stroke risk. aspirin is the first member of a class of substances called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids非甾体抗炎药). these drugs reduce pain, fever and inflammation, and are used to treat a variety of conditions. many believe that aspirin has many benefits not yet fully understood. media reports on the use of aspirin to prevent or treat diseases such as heart attacks and cancer leave many people struggling to keep all the facts straight. others who cannot tolerate aspirin might feel a bit left out as new uses and benefits of aspirin continue to appear in the news. in all cases, more researches are needed to determine what benefits aspirin may provide and whether these benefits would outweigh the potential side effects. aspirin, for example, is known to cause gastrointestinal (胃肠的) bleeding with heavy use, and there is research that indicates an increased risk of bleeding-related stroke in people who use it regularly. in some cases, these reactions can be killers. another potentially deadly problem is aspirin poisoning and most people dont know about it. before you start taking any of these over-the-counter (不需处方也可出售的) drugs on a long-term basis, its a good idea to discuss it with your health care provider. 1. from the second paragraph we know. a. humans have fully understood the benefits of aspirin. b. aspirin is the only member of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. c. not every one of us can take aspirin. d. aspirin can be used to stop bleeding. 2. whats the third paragraph mainly about? a. many researches about aspirin. b. aspirins side effects. c. new uses of aspirin. d. the unknown aspects about aspirin. 3. the underlined word in the first paragraph means. a. kept b. saved c. investigatedd. removed4. according to the passage, which of the following is true? a. aspirin can cure us of most diseases. b. aspirin is important in reducing pain and heart attack. c. the side effects of aspirin outweigh its benefits. d. we can buy some aspirin and take it immediately if we dont feel well. 【参考答案】7.cbdb阅读理解-ai was helping in my sons classroom when i spotted a poster that reads, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words can break my heart”. i started thinking.teachers are such an important part of a childs life. a teachers support determines how safe a child feels in school. his inspiration determines how much risk a child will take in the classroom, his understanding determines how important a child feels in school and his love determines a childs motivating and attitude toward education. and the effect a teacher has on a child doesnt end when the school bell rings at the end of the day. rather, those feelings developed in the classroom go home with the child and, in a large part, determine what sort of evening the child and the family have. the importance of a teacher to a child is fantastic and cannot be over-emphasized.all my children are fortunate to have remarkable teachers. consequently, the three of them love going to school almost as much as they love using teacherisms. for example, one of hannahs favorite phrases in used when i mess up. she looks at me with understanding and says, “its okay to make mistakes, mama, because youre only learning.” rachaels favorite phrase is used to start most of her jobs; with a glow in her eye, she says, “im just going to do my best, mama, because thats all i can do!” but perhaps my favorite is jacobs response to his sisters when one of them says something he doesnt like. with his hand on his heart he says, “dont say that because words can break my heart.”like most parents, i hear teacherisms daily. and every time i hear one, my heart floods with gratefulness for the wonderful teachers who make my children feel safe, important, and successful in the classroom, and who are helping my children achieve emotional good health. there is much talk today how to measure a teachers worth. i think we need only look at the students. children mirror teachers words and actions, and the content of those reflections shows teachers greatness.1. teachers are important to students in that .a. they equip them with book knowledgeb. they help free the parents from worriesc. they guarantee each family a happy eveningd. they help keep them emotionally healthy答案解析:答案为d。 由第二段 “teachers are such an important part of a childs life. a teachers support determines how safe a child feels in school. his inspiration determines how much risk a child will take in the classroom, his understanding determines how important a child feels in school and his love determines a childs motivating and attitude toward education.” 2. the three childrens examples are used to show that .a. they are lucky to have wonderful teachersb. they can eventually develop into good teachersc. they are sometimes mentally hurt by the teachersd. they have a successful performance in school答案解析:答案为a。 作者用自己三个孩子的例子是为了证明第三段的首句也就是该段的主题句 “all my children are fortunate to have remarkable teachers.” 3. to his mother, what the boy says possibly sounds .a. ridiculousb. convincingc. humorousd. inspiring答案解析:答案为c。本题为细节推理题。由第三段可知,作者前面提到的两个孩子是女孩,最后一个孩子是男孩,由该段后面的内容 “but perhaps my favorite is jacobs response to his sisters when one of them says something he doesnt like. with his hand on his heart he says, dont say that because words can break my heart.” 4. the underlined word “teacherisms” probably refers to “ ”.a. how teachers normally deal with their studentsb. what teachers usually say to their studentsc. why teachers seem important to their studentsd. where teachers agree with their students答案解析:答案为b。本题为词义猜测题。由 “teacherisms” 所在的语境 “all my children are fortunate to have remarkable teachers. consequently, the three of them love going to school almost as much as they love using teacherisms.” 可知,作者提到自己的孩子非常幸运,在学校里有非常了不起的老师,结果,三个孩子都喜欢上学就像他们喜欢用teacherisms一样。接下来作者用三个孩子所说的话作为例子,这些话显得非常成熟,它们明显来自老师平时在学校里对他们所说的,故答案为b。社会生活类when i stepped out the plane from miami into charlotte, north carolina, airport for a connecting flight home, i immediately knew something was wrong. lots of desperate people crowded the terminal. i quickly learned that flights headed to the northeast were called off because of a storm. the earliest they could get us out of charlotte was tuesday. it was friday. a gate agent stood on the counter and shouted, “dont ask us for help!we cannot help you! ”i joined a crowd that ran from terminal to terminal in search of a flight out. eventually, i found six strangers willing to rent a van with me. we drove through the night to washington, where i took a train the rest of the way to providence. the real problem, of course, is that incidents like this happen every day, to everyone who flies, more and more often. it really gets to me, though, because for eight years i was on the other side, as a flight attendant for trans-world airlines (twa). i know the days are gone when attendants could be written up if we did not put the lines napkins with the twa logo in the lower right-hand corner of the first-class diners trays. as are the days when there were three dinner options on flights from boston to los angeles in economy class. when, once, stuck on a tarmac (机场停机坪)in newark for four hours, a planeload of passengers got mcdonalds hamburgers and fries by thoughtfulness of the airline. i have experienced the decline of service along with the rest of the flying public. but i believe everything will change little by little, because i remember the days when to fly was to soar (翱翔). the airlines, and their employees, took pride in how their passengers were treated. and i think the days are sure to come back one day in the near future. 1. many people crowded the terminal because_.a. they were ready to board on the planes b. something was wrong with the terminal c. the flights to the northeast were canceled d. the gate agent wouldnt help the passengers2. how did the writer get to providence at last? a. by air.b. by van. c. by train.d. by underground.3. which of the following is not true according to the passage? a. incidents happened to those who fly quite often. b. the writer used to be a flight attendant for trans-world airlines. c. even a small mistake might cause complaints from passengers in the past. d. mcdonalds hamburgers and fries were among regular dinner options. 4. what can be implied from the passage? a. the writer lived in charlotte, north carolina. b. the writer thought the service was not as good as it used to be. c. the writer with other passengers waited to be picked up patiently. d. passengers would feel proud of how they were treated on the plane.【参考答案】28. ccdb 阅读理解-bjust be happy. sounds too simplistic, doesnt it? but, in reality, we can have much more happiness if we choose to consider things from a positive point of view. everyone experiences the ups and downs of life, however, we can make a decision to take advantage of the negative or pratice what the old saying says to do:“when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” it really boils down to your attitude and you have the ability to work your attitude into any shape you like. here are some tips:ignore those who tell you life is too difficult to be happy. what do they know?when you awaken each morning, be thankful for another day, even if its raining.smile at those you meet, even if they dont return the favor. dont borrow trouble. each day has enough of its own.dont allow trouble to bury you in its gray depth of sorrow.dont give in to negative thinking.be positive even when others are not.refuse to give up on anything worth having or doing.do something you enjoy each day, even if its just a walk in your neighborhood. whistle as you go though the day.work at being happy because its worth it.youre human, like everyone else, and from time to time you need a little pick-me-up in your decision to be happy. when you reach that stage, find someone else who has decided to be happy. join forces with him and march forward in your decision to be a happy person. simply speaking, a happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.choose today to just be happy-as much as it depends on you!1. the amount of happiness depends on .a. the ups and downs youve experiencedb. what attitude you take towards lifec. how simple a life you manage to lived.
