In fact,this festival is named Dragon Boat Festival. It is because that held on May fifth, besides,the other two festivals are held on July seventh and September ninth ,we decide to call it Double Fifth Day.We will tell about it from the following two parts.(Origin & food) Origin of Dragon Boat Festival is the Chinese people to commemorate 2000 years ago the great statesman and patriotic poet Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan, patriotic, full of talent, in the dynasty of political persecution was at that time, the concern for the fate, despair, sorrow and anger under run away himself.Qu Yuan, after the abnormal grief people have flocked to the riverside to reminisce Qu Yuan, a fisherman who prop up the river to salvage his dead body back and forth. A very popular dish during the Dragon Boat Festival is Zong Zi（traditional Chinese ricepudding).This tasty dish consists of rice dumplings with meat, peanut, egg yolk, or other fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves. The tradition of Zong Zi is meant to remind us of the village fishermen scattering rice across the water of the Mi Low river in order to appease the river dragons so that they would not devour Qu Yuan. In this part,well tell about a love story,but that really is a tragedy. Long long ago, there was an honest and kind-hearted fellow named Niu Lang (Cowherd). His parents died when he was a child. Later he was driven out of his home by his sister-in-law. So he lived by himself herding cattle and farming. One day, a fairy from heaven Zhi Nu (Weaver Maid) fell in love with him and came down secretly to earth and married him. The cowherd farmed in the field and the Weaver Maid wove at home. They lived a happy life and gave birth to a boy and a girl. Unfortunately, the God of Heaven soon found out the fact and ordered the Queen Mother of the Western Heavens to bring the Weaver Maid back. With the help of celestial cattle, the Cowherd flew to heaven with his son and daughter. At the time when he was about to catch up with his wife, the Queen Mother took off one of her gold hairpins and made a stroke. One billowy river appeared in front of the Cowherd. The Cowherd and Weaver Maid were separated on the two banks forever and could only feel their tears. Their loyalty to love touched magpies, so tens of thousands of magpies came to build a bridge for the Cowherd and Weaver Maid to meet each other. The Queen Mother was eventually moved and allowed them to meet each year on the 7th of the 7th lunar month. Hence their meeting date has been called Qi Xi (Double Seventh Day). On Double Ninth Day,Chinese people usually choose to climb up,appreciate chrysanthemum and so on. The Double Ninth Festival the first ascent of customs, autumn in September, the fall, the season, when we are inclined to climb up ,can be achieved a bright life, feeling of fresh,and purpose on driving illnesses. The Double Ninth Day, there has always been the custom tours chrysanthemum.Commonly known as the lunar September September, Chrysanthemum Festival organized by the general assembly.Thousands of millions people attend the meeting.
